Does anyone have experience of challenging the 20% discount repayment for Right to Buy terms with a local council in the final six months of the five year no move rule.

There is a proviso written in the contract that says in exceptional circumstances they will waive this.

Would anyone know what these exceptional circumstances might be, or if there has been a successful challenge.

I have been told it would be too costly to ask and I would be unsuccessful if I engaged a solicitor to do this hence my post to clarify this would be the case. Thanks in advance.

google is your friend

i'd ask you don't need a solicitor to just ask...

try your local council they may have similar on their site

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Hi

Welcome to CAG

As the Right to Buy is a Government Scheme it may be hard to challenge the 20% Discount you would have to pay back after selling your home.

I see no harm in you writing to the council yourself and asking if they would waive the 20% giving your reasons why they should.
