Yorkshire water threatening default
I have YW chasing me for money.
The amount which is just over £600 for 11 months.
To my knowledge water has never been this expensive.
Can someone please shed light on this.
I have not paid as the first bill I disputed, and it has just been going on and on.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Yorkshire water threatening default
well if you had a meter you'd get a readings statement with the bill.
you say you disputed the first bill?
so how long have you lived there and have you ever paid for the supply yet?

Re: Yorkshire water threatening default
well it might be wise to ring or write to them
the last thing you need is a CCJ
are they aware you've moved out and have you told them your new address?
ask then when they think you moved in and out.
and you also say you dispute the last bill?
was this for the same period?
if you moved in in oct 2017 could they be billing you for the full year apr 17-apr 18 when its only 6mts?
and like wise now apr 18 to apr 19?
that would in their eyes be 2 full years which makes it about +£300 per year which sound about right
I think they are billing you wrong.

Re: Yorkshire water threatening default
£300 a year sounds right, that I'd have no issue paying... I just feel £600 is wrong?
I will call them today!

Best bet is to scan & load a copy of your bil remembering to redact personal info. Yorkshire Water do Court and for non-payment will enforce via HCEO.

OK - I am calling them now, would you agree that £600 is way too much for one year though?

Re: Yorkshire water threatening default
Sorted..
I called them and they said the bill was for an additional 6 months from my move out date to next year.....
now come down to £403 for the year...
Still seems a bit much? £36 a month?

Re: Yorkshire water threatening default
If single nearly always better to have a meter, unless you have swimming pool. Even for 2 of us in a bungalow our bill is approx £300 per year, and that is on a meter.
