Hi

I signed up to a gym in august this year. I was pressured into signing & have been a few times.

I have tried cancelling with letter from GP stating due to anxiety i wouldn't be able to attend anymore.

I heard back from ashburn saying they would hold my membership & add unused months onto end but i would have to continue payments of £51 per month.

It is now making me ill & my consultant has written a letter stating i will not be able to attend anymore due to lifelong illness (ulcerative collitis).

I fear i am going to have issues cancelling so any advice is greatly appreciated.

you've told them you are cancelling stop the dd now.

all you owed was1 month fee after you asking them to cancel

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

you let one payment go thru

tough they want more

go cancel the DD

Hi Tinker and welcome to CAG

Please read this first - https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?452671-Cancelling-your-Gym-Agreement-Get-it-right-!(2-Viewing)-nbsp

If you have told either the gym or their admin company that you need to cancel on medical grounds, you really need to just pay them one further fee then pay nothing more and cancel the DD mandate.

They have no right to demand proof, GP letters etc.

You've paid a month's fee as needed, and you you need pay no more, despite their demands.

Ignore their demands so far and let us know when/if you get further demands.

We'll help you deal with Ashburn.

:-)

We could do with some help from you
