I have received a notice of enforcement to my address for my stepdaughter, who is staying with us temporarily

she owes eon just short of £1000 from her previous address,

there are no dates on the notice about dates or when is it from .

I am slightly concerned about bailiffs knocking on my door and trying to seize belongings

i am also shocked by the enormous fees they add on at different stages.

She is a jobless student at the moment , so has no way of paying this bill either.

any advice please?

Your daughter should have been given notice by the bailiff to make A payment arrangement with them.

As she has no money you should not let them into your house shouldShe be unable to come to an agreement as they will put pressure onYou to pay for her and/or try to take possession of your goods to Help you come to a decision of paying for her.

I guess she would have been told by Eon that she owed them and That they were taking her to Court? Do you know how much she Actually owed to Eon?

Acting as HCEO or court role..

hCEO i bet.

No right of entry at all on civil debts so dont get spoofed by them they can.

If shes on benefits then if you keep ignoring

There is actually little they can do.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Make sure there is nothing outside such as car or anything of value they can seize or use as leaverage to get you to come out of the house. As the TV programmes show the HCEO will try to get you to come to the door and if this means looking at nearby cars ( even if not yours) or speaking to your neighbours, they will try.

They cannot force entry to your house. They have to attempt peaceful entry. So going to the door is a bad idea, as is leaving any doors unlocked.

By not allowing any collection, it will avoid the very expensive HCEO fees.

Can I suggest that the person owing this debt writes to EON to explain their position. EON can apply to Department for Work and Pensions for a deduction to be made to benefits. A percentage deduction will then be made and paid to EON.

We could do with some help from you.

Eon will most likely offer 2 answers dependent on who you talk to:

Debt Team will likely agree some form of payment

Legal Team will tell you to deal with HCE Group

Sadly the Legal Team are correct unless they agree to also call off HCE Group - as any payment agreed outside of the HCEO can see them then being responsible for all the fees.
