Thread: Passport query

  1. #1

    Default Passport query

Does anybody know if a new passport has to be declared for new addresses every time they move and is another fee still payable if move more than the occasion intending or would it just be the single fee for a new passport renewal.

You only have to report it once you renew or replace one.

    Hi, LF.

I'm not sure what you're asking, sorry. Are you looking to renew your passport?

This is from the Passport Office.

Changes you do not have to report

You do not have to tell HM Passport Office or get a new passport if you:

    • change your address or contact details
    • get a new job
    • change your appearance slightly - for example, dye your hair or grow a beard
    • change your marital status (divorceicon, marry or form a civil partnership) but keep your name
    • change your title, for example, doctor or professor
    • become a national of another country as well as the UK
    • emigrate

Does that answer your question? I ask because you posted in the Benefits forum.

If LF confirms that, I'll move the thread to the passport forum.

I don't think Passport office uses addresses at all as part of the information contained in a Passport. It's not recorded in the passport itself, they only need it when you apply for first and renewal passports so they know where to send it to. That's why you don't need to tell them when you change address.
