Trying to help out my builder mate. He got his 16/17 tax return in on time with the help of his accountant, and had tax to pay on 31st Jan 2018, and then another payment on account is now due on 31st July. However he has cashflow issues and does not think he can make the 10k payment to HMRC until mid September, 7 weeks late. The accountant has just gone off on annual leave so he cannot get hold of him. What will happen?

they will adjust the amount they want if his turnover and profit are vastly different from their expectations. Even if he owes nothing at this point they still expect somehting though, we have a lot of government employees to keep!
