Daughter (not the registered keeper) parked 25mins over the allowed time at Lidl Clapham Junction car park.

Did some shopping and mostly browsing at Lidl Clapham but also went to other stores.

Got sent Civil Parking Charge Notice.

Was intending to pay within 14 days but forgot and now it is over 28 days.

Any advice would be helpful

Many thanks

Yes, ignore any deadlines they have set as they are meaningless to anyone who decides they dont want to pay.

Post up a copy of the NTK ( letter to keeper) with personal details redacted and any barcodes removed as well.

We are interested in dates and times plus the wording of the NTK so we can pick holes in it.

They are more likely to be wrong than right over the whole private parking spectrum.

If the place is local to you get some pictures of the signage there as well, that usually is so wrong as to make their claims worthless

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

Well, first thing I would do is get on to Lidl head office and let them know that this issued to a genuine customer

( find receipt and give number of that) and that there was no breach of the conditions but 2 visits to the store, which isnt against the terms offered and that you expect them to tell Athena to cancel their demand.

there should be a published email addy for the chief exec of Lidl Uk somewhere so use that

if you cant get them to cancel via customer services

(unlikely they will as they are limited to making noises and telling you to contact Athena, which you shouldnt do)

let CS know that you arent happy if they dont action this and make sure they know that you are taking them matter up with (xxxxx CEO) and it is clear their training or authority isnt adequate for this kind of problem

We don't have the receipt but will a copy of the credit card statement work?

Also should I mention that we have only recently started shopping at Lidl to save pennies, as my income has dwindled because I retired recently.

This is a fact.

Sorry dx100uk, thanks for the advice.

If you knew what the date and rough time was and could tell them some of their items bought they would be able to find you on their system.

You know the first 2 so easy to identify the purchase.

hopefully this will be an end to the matter so keep us posted, especially if they say they cant help as we have other tactics to persuade them that THEIR contractors are their problem

I've merged those in to a single document and redacted the NtK properly for you :thumb:

In fact, they're probably just waffling and can be quite safely and completely ignored as you wish.

Sorry good folks, I was dealing with another little crisis yesterday.

I phoned Lidl CS and have been asked to appeal directly to Athena which I told them I was not going to do as what they are doing in my opinion is illegal. The person gave me the CEO's postal address but refused to give me his email.

BTW I assumed my daughter had paid by credit card but she tells me that in this instance she paid cash, but she did buy stuff.

Next step, letter to CEO or email?

you are NOT appealing and nor will you.

You are complaining to the CEO of a company that has employed a buch of bandits to run their car park and who are doing it so badly they are upsetting the customers who will now have to considr whether it is worth their while to continue to shop there given teh draconian conditions

What are my reasons for appeal now that I cannot prove that we did some shopping there?

Is this too long?

My vehicle was parked in the car park of your Clapham Junction branch on 10th May 2018 whilst the driver was doing their shopping.

As shopping at Lidl is a new experience for the driver, they lost track of time whilst reading the labels on all the unfamiliar brands in your store.

Consequently I was sent a Civil Parking Charge Notice for the overstay by the cowboys you employ to effectively drive your customers away.

Unfortunately the driver is not in the habit of saving their grocery shopping receipts.

However, as the receipt was scanned before leaving the store the data should be retrievable from the scanner with reference to the above notice.

(have evidence of other recent shopping trips to Lidl on credit card statements)

The driver never intended to overstay.

For this purpose there is the Boots car park less than 100 yards away and a large ASDA car park next to that with ample parking and practically, for as long as you like.

This was a genuine oversight on the drivers part and I would be grateful if you could request Anthena to cancel the notice in this instance.

Not too long.

The only change I would make to that is in the last line...

Change: So this was a genuine oversight on the drivers part and I would be grateful if you could request Anthena to cancel the notice in this instance.

To: So this was a genuine oversight on the drivers part and I would be grateful if you would tell Athena to cancel the notice in this instance.

Lidl are the principle and they can tell Athena what to do, there's no asking about it :thumb:

Got email on Friday asking for car reg which I sent.

Another email today giving lengthy explanation about why they feel necessary to have these measures in place etc

But they will ask the "Car Park Management Company" to cancel the charge on this one occasion.

Thank you to all the good folk on this forum for the excellent advice you are providing, really appreciate it.

Please do let us know once you have your confirmation that they've cancelled. That way we can update the thread title and add it to the (very long) list of successes :thumb:

you dont talk to athena, it is Lidl that you want to sort this out.

If they dont then you use social media like twitter and facebook to remind them in no uncertain terms they dont keep their word and cant control their servants.

that is all the parking co is, an agent of the store co that has ideas above its station.

Ultimately they will do as they are told but someone has to tell them first.
