Hi I was a silly boy the other day in primark having walked out with clothes stuffed in pram which I totally forgot about as I walked out the security were waiting.

I was willing to pay the mistake but instead they got the police and referred me to RLP.

Having read a few threads on Internet is it wise to ignore the rlp letters.

I still haven't received one yet.

The police were fine took details and said most likely I would get a warning or small fine as I've never been in trouble with them before in my life.

What's the thoughts on rlp and do you think the police side of it will go any further.

Thanks

You totally ignore rlp

I very much doubt the police will be further involved as they got the goods back

what the police do or dont do is totally separate from begging letters from RLP.

The police might issue a fixed penalty notice ( not that likely now) a formal warning as intimated or nothing at all.

you wil go on ther intelligence database so if you are accused again they will think more dim;y of it.

RLP like to pretend they work hand in glove with the police, they dont and were ordered to stop trotting out this story.

they claim all sorts of useful things and retailers believe them as they are generally too lazy to look into this im any detail, same as they hire in car park "management".

In practice any monies you pay them just goes in their pockets and as they have no interests or rights in any matter that is a waste for the other parties.

Hi and welcome to CAG

An unusual case this one. Primark did both the right thing and the wrong thing- all at the same time! I'm happy they got the police involved as they are the correct people to ascertain whether the act was deliberate or a mistake. Primark security will always assume it was a deliberate act and get RLP involved.

Even if the police decide that this was a genuine mistake, that won't bother RLP one iota. They will continue to act and chase for the contribution to their next party. Please let us know what the police say.

As for RLP, I agree. Ignore. You will get a few letters from RLP and then they pass on this fictitious sum to a debt collection agency who have even less power that RLP (and they have none)

I believe that before the police decide on what to do, they should view the CCTV recording. This will give them a better view on what happens next.

Received my 4th letter today they have cut it down from 197 to £95. Is that them slowly giving up? Still no word from police about fine. Or do you think police will be done with it?

Yup. Ignore. This is them getting desperate for their next party with no money to pay for it. It's likely debt collector letters will follow soon bu they are as limp wristed as RLP.

As no police involvement, it's likely they won't be after this length of time although they could if they wanted to

Wouldn't be a fine from the police [1st offence etc etc]...simply a caution.
