A new wall rendering and other exterior building works company FISHER RANDALL LTD is now trading. I sincerely hope that they are a good company and that customers who use their services get a good deal and that everyone benefits out of it.

However, potential customers should realise that the director of this company is Micah Shaw who is the son of Harvill Shaw who has run a succession of wall rendering companies whose business model seems to have been to go into liquidation every two or three years leaving a lot of very unhappy customers behind with no redress.

Harvill Shaw has been the subject of various pieces in the press and recently did some time in prison – probably because of his activities.

The sole director of the new company FISHER RANDALL LTD , Micah Shaw was the director of one of Harvill's previous companies – but we aren't sure whether that was a genuine directorship or simply some kind of shield.

As I have said, maybe this new company is under the genuine leadership Micah Shaw and hopefully it will trade properly, provide a good service, stand by its product, make good honest profits for its owners and its employees – as well as building up a reputation for high quality service and satisfied customers.

However, we think it's important to bring this to people's attention. There were too many innocent victims of the previous operations.

Harvil Alfonzo Shaw, 53, of Far Leys in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on July 1 where he pleaded guilty to fraud and consumer protection offences.

The court heard that Mr Shaw, who had a long track record of failing companies, ran a series of businesses offering wall-rendering services.

Hiding behind a series of slick websites, a convincing manner and a false name he gained business by offering insurance backed guarantees he could not honour and claiming membership of organisations such as the Green Deal to which he did not belong. He failed to give cancellation rights required by law and hid behind limited companies run by him but fronted by friends and a pseudonym ‘Abraham Jackson’.

When doing business with this company or any company, if they offer a "lifetime guarantee" then do be aware that this means that it is simply for the lifetime of the company. If the company goes into liquidation then you have nothing.

If they offer an "insurance backed" guarantee, then this means nothing if there is no insurance policy. Nobody ever checks the policy. If you get any work done from any company and the "insurance guarantee" is important to you, then asked for sight of the certificate and then contact the insurance company to make sure that the insurance is in place and that it will cover you for the kind of work you are having carried out – also you need to know how long you will be covered for. If the business goes into liquidation next year, are you still covered? If the business stops paying its premiums next year, are you still covered?

If you don't make these simple checks then if you come a cropper, we will help you – but ultimately you have only yourself to blame

They have quite a few good testimonials on their new website however, they are all from January 5th 2017, over a month before they were incorporated in February 2017 and it seems the website itself was set up in December 2016.

There is also no company details on the front page. No physical address nor their company number as well as no terms and conditions or privacy notice. Very poor!

Obviously I would love being proved wrong but as Micah Shaw was a director of the previous dissolved company, it doesn't bode well.

One thing that people can do if they have a problem with any wall rendering company is to follow them on Companies House. The ability to 'follow' a company will assist if that company tries to liquidate whilst complaints are live as you can then object to the liquidation.

If you are asked to deal with any matter via private message, PLEASE report it.

Everything I say is opinion only. If you are unsure on any comment made, you should see a qualified solicitor
