Hello

It is my first time posting in this so I’m unsure what I need to put.

I Joined 1gym a few years ago on a 12 month contract

(I wasn’t aware of as I was rushed to sign the forms and I was only young).

I didn’t use the gym and they were taking more money out than agreed

I sent an email and cancelled my direct debit.

I haven’t heard anything since until today

I received an email from CRS asking for over £300 for the membership as an unsettled debt.

It needs to be paid within 7dayz or they will take further action.

I believed everything was fine as I haven’t heard anything until now?

What should I do?

Moved to the gym forum

100's of like threads here to Read

Did you allow one more payment following your cancellation email?

Don't sweat on this

A DCA is not a bailiff

They are powerless

How old were you when you signed up too please??

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

I had just turned 18 when I signed up back in 2015.

I can’t quite remember if I’d allowed another payment or not as it was so long ago.

I remember them taking like 35 a month instead of the agreed 15pound so I possibly cancelled it in frustration but I’m not too sure!

Hi Aimiee and welcome to CAG

Do not reply to CRS at all for now. Not by phone, email or letter. Their threats are just Hot Air and they're chancers who never take the action they threaten.

1. Do you have anything to show what you agreed to pay - maybe a copy agreement, T&C's, emailed info, etc ?

2. Do you have the email you sent to the gym when you cancelled.

3. Did they reply to you at all.

Re 1 above, you can compare what SHOULD have been paid to what WAS taken by DD. If you can show there's a discrepancy, you could reclaim some or all DD's using the DD Guarantee Scheme.

Re 2 and 3, can you confirm each email's content for us.

:-)

We could do with some help from you
