I have had a payment come out of my bank account which is annotated CATHEDRAL IFP, and to which I am not aware who they are.

I have found out the Sort code and Account number of the recipient but have not been informed of any other information as it is covered by Data Protection apparently.

The only company I could find under that name was Cathedral IFP in Bedford, but they deny all knowledge of it.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Presumably this was direct debit.

Call the bank and invoke the direct debit guarantee immediately.

does the amount ring a bell for a tap and go payment?

You say the payment was made FROM an unknown party.

surely you are the person who made the payemnt or are you saying you received a payment?

Do you have this facility set up on your phone?

if not then that points to fraud and the bank should reimburse whilst they investigate not delay the refund until they have delved into it

At a cost of £16700 I would definitely remember.

The bank have not refunded the amount, but are investigating (4 months now).

I have had enough,

if I can find out who the company is that received the funds I will attempt to recoup the funds.

The bank is attempting to wriggle out of its responsibility because they automatically linked my personal account with a business one,

(which I was not informed about and never requested),

which has allowed a third party access without my consent.

have the bank asserted that you paid the money rather than the funds were requested and paid.

Big difference.

If you do online or mobile banking then the chances of proving you didnt are much reduced and the banks love it that way as it reduces their exposure to the losses that arepartially if not wholly down to their rubbish security

Try and get a deadlock letter so you can take the matter further.

Have you doen a SAR to get as much info as possible including the method of the request etc, it will all be there hidden away.

They are obliged to refund whist the dispute goes on

so another complaint to add.

Send the compalint to the CEO of the bank and get your MP involved as a start of a bad publicity campaign for them failing to follow the correct procedures rather than giving your money away as that is more back and white

ouch you should never be holding that kind of money in a personal bank account

hive it off to a savings account whereby its would have been protected.

anyway...the bank MUST refund whilst they investigate

the FCA dictate so.

and the bank is??

go report this to actionfraud too

get a crime ref number

and send it to the stupid bank!!

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...
