Hi, first time poster.

I have noticed a default on my credit report from Clydesdale/BPF for an account that was opened in 2003.

In 2005 I went through a bad patch and didn't pay any of my debts,

my problem with this one is the date of default is listed as 2012?

Is there a way I can get this removed as it is Statute Barred and should not be on my file.

Thanks in advance. Jon

not necessarily true

just because you might not have paid a debt for 6yrs

it doesn't mean it shouldn't be on your file.

All references to a defaulted debt must be removed from your credit files after 6 years

has passed from date of default, whether paid off, paying now or not.

.

{the WHOLE ACCOUNT WILL VANISH, never to return}.

.

This is so that someone who continues paying something

- even after 6 years from default

- should not be at a disadvantage to someone who pays nothing after default

and ends up with a clean file after 6 years.

.

now if the original creditor took numerous months to register their default

then you could complain about that.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Thanks for your reply DX,

I should have been clearer,

I got into problems in 2005 and didn't pay any of my debits,

I thought a default had to be put on within ~6months,

my issue with this is the default was only put on my file in 2012 some 7 years after.

I haven't had any contact with the company in some 9-10 years that was my thinking for it being statute barred,

im thinking of sending them a SAR request to see what info they are holding on me and then go from there.

what is your thinking on this? Cheers Jon
