    Default reduction in wage

Hi would be grateful for some advice on this please,

if someone is asked to move workplace to somewhere further away are they expected to be financially penalized for this?

I.E somebody i know has been told they have to move workplace because its within a certain distance from their current workplace
this will mean they will be paying out as much as 40 a week to make this journey which to me is a wage cut,

    is this right?

It depends what mobility clause is in their contract - can you check?

Even without a mobility clause it may be perfectly acceptable in law. It may appear to the OP to be something, but a wage reduction is a reduction in the actual wage. This isn't a wage reduction.

OP you'd need to explain more. What distance is involved? Commute time? And actually, even if they have an argument - in all likelihood is an argument to be redundanticon, not to get more money. In law, there is no requirement for Ann emitter to pay for relocation expenses. Some might offer a temporary allowance - but not for very long.

I didn't disagree with you - I pointed out that they may not have one and even if they do it doesn't necessarily help at all. Many people don't have mobility clauses, or very basic ones like "may be required to work from another site". As I am sure you are aware, there is loads of case law on these matters that can override even a mobility clause, or, equally, make it possible to enforce a move. And that is quite aside from the fact that this is not a wage reduction. The possibilities of temporary expenses is another matter. And still a case of context and the employers policy.

OP, what is this all about, are they shutting down an office or the like? It is possible that redundancyicon may have to be offered but not a pay rise to cover the extra expenses of travelling furhter but the whys and wherefores are important
