Hi all ,Someone knocked on the front door tonight offering a free survey for any damp walls after cavity wall insulation

since we have had the walls insulated a few years ago damp has got a grip in both upstairs bedrooms ,

they seem to be offering a no win no fee service .

Apparently the problem has been mentioned in the house of commons and could be the next PPI ,

anyone got any views ,

heres the link to the MP's comments.

Thanks Andy.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Article mentions CIGA so get in touch with them rather than using someone who cold calls.

As it stands there is no compensation scheme so no win no fee?

who do they intend to claim from I wonder?

they arent there out of the goodness of their hearts.

I always say no to any cold callers, regardless of how wonderful the offer is.

i might have missed out on a fortune in gold from Ghana, General Sani Abachas hidden millions and god knows how many free surveys but I can live with that.

They came out today ,

tested the walls,

agreed there was damp and it was likely from the incorrectly applied cavity insulation,

asked us to sign a no win no fee agreement

and that they would attempt to get compensation to cover removal/repair of the insulation or a cash payment to us,

I explained I would rather take a few days to read through ........

after reading through there seems to be all kinds of situations were I would be responsible for fees/insurance costs and their solicitors costs.

Think we will give it a miss.

Thanks Andy.

Did they use a meter with two prongs on the end that is poked in to the walls ?

If so, you might want to have a read of this: https://www.heritage-house.org/damp-and-condensation/the-ping-prong-meter-guilty-of-fraud.html

I looked at the Telegraph article linked here and a pop up advert forguess who came up on the page ;pointing out what a bunch of badits they are- yes, the Cavity claim group and even the same phone number of the soliciotrs you are told to avoid.

Someone has a sense of humour at google adsense (or are completely stupid-vote now)
