they have put 800 in to my old bank account which is closed and has been for a long time, as it is overdrawn, im on phone to Halifiax to sort and all im getting is well it will pay the debt off!

Ive made it clear this can not happen as it is my rent money, and is needed ASAP! they have said now they cant find my account!

Ive spoke to tax credits and all i get is well it will be returned if not used!! help!!

best thing is they just said set up a payment plan or we keep the money

I wouldn't of thought the Halifax is going to give you the money.

How is an account "closed" when overdrawn?

It may be closed in your eyes but not in the Halifax eyes.

You owe the Halifax and suddenly they gets payment reducing your overdraft. They now have less money to write off or less money to chase you for.

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

the account was frozen

tax credits sent it to an old account that we have not used since last april,

they admitted mistake,

theres an overdrawn balance but their fees,

i cleared it all before not using it

they charged me £28 for being overdrawn for 1 day then kept adding their fees on top.

it is in dispute.

Even though the call log you can hear me say it's for all tax credits.

I would ask tax credits to reverse/recall the payment...given its their error....I doubt you will have any success against Halifax on your own...its not a closed account..its a case that you dont use it any longer and its in dispute...but its still active...thats why Halifax was allowed to pay in and the transaction cleared.....otherwise Halifax would have rejected the credit.

I'm awaiting a tax credits manager to call me back and have had to ask all payments to be suspended till sorted! I've documents and the calls to prove it there error, and they admit it but still won't change account without me writing g it and can take 21 days.

I've got the money as FOS involved they sorted, I'm now battling tax credits, thanks guys

Well getting the money is excellent news. That is one less worry.

You can now concentrate on ensuring that the tax credit folks have the correct details so you don't have to go through this again.
