Hi there,

I realize there are a lot of threads regarding cancelling gym memberships to Xercise4Less floating around on these forums, but I am not looking to cancel my membership, rather, I'm trying to find out if there is any point in me challenging a bounced payment.

I have been out of the country since today (7th), and received an email dated from the 6th, saying a payment was bounced due to there being insufficient funds in the account.

Now I'm being charged a £25 administration fee, which seems absolutely ridiculous.

Should I chalk this down as me being stupid or can I challenge it? I'm out of the country again on Sunday for 14 days, which is past their September 16th date where they want to charge me.

Kind regards,

Andreas

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

nope you can pay gyms by bacs on your interweb banking site

there nothing that says you must pay by DD

but if you don't cancel it

they'll simply take it

as they've advised you 14 days in advance

you don't go back on DD then.

your current DD mandate shows their account details

you use that to set up a standing order.

or simply pay manually by bacs transfer

its all on your banks online portal.

you do use it yes?

Hi OD and welcome to CAG

Unless you cancel the DD mandate, Harlands will take their admin fees whether you agree or not.

If they take more than you're happy with, reclaim the entire DD using the DD Guarantee Scheme. You can send JUST the gym fee to Harlands by BACS as DX suggests.

The bank will, of course, charge you their own admin fees for the bounced DD and you can do nothing about this.

You'd have to cancel the DD because Harlands would continue to seek the amounts THEY want, rather than what you're happy to pay.

If you're happy to pay Harlands admin fee on this occasion so you can continue the m/ship, that's your prerogative.
