Hi all

I've received a letter from RBS saying my debt has been sold to from 3rd July. I had an agreement with RBS to pay which was paid on 13th July and august as I didn't know my debt had been sold on. (I've been paying it in a small monthly payment for years)

If I stop payments and 3 letter Cabot - will my monthly payments in July and august go against me as a sign of admitting liability of the outstanding balance?

Should I stop payment for September and 3 letter? Or stop payment and wait for more letters?

Confused and worried. Thanks

3 letter not that stupid FOTL nonsense = you would be up the creek there if that is what you are going to use it, we do not carry on with that 3 letter nonsense on here and would spend more time with genuine people with genuine cases.

You wait for cabot to contact you And relax, cabot do NOT buy or chase enforceable debts. They only go after ones that are lemon debts and nobody else will touch. Do your homework on the debt, and provide more info.

Stay away from the 3 letter nonsense. It doesnt work and will lead you into further trouble.

Once you get a letter from cabot, come here for advice. Stay away from all sites that say to do the 3 letter thing. They just want you to get into trouble, so they can charge you for pseudo legal advice.

If the debt has been sold, then the OC wont be appropriating the payments to the account

can we have the full history of the debt please

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

It's a credit card from RBS for £915 I believe is from before 2007

I lost my job and entered into repayment with RBS around 2010/11

I have maintained the small monthly payment and have now received the letter saying they have sold to Cabot in July but I didn't know and made my monthly payment in July and august as normal.

Urm not much point in a CCA request

But no harm in sending one

Wait the next letter

Keep paying RBS for now

i disagree. Send teh CCA to cabot i f and when they contact you. The debt is either full of charges or its got no paperwork. If cabot has it, its almost certainly one of the two.

stop worrying about a powerless DCA

they ARE NOT BAILIFFS!!

it could well be this debt contains £12 penalty fees from RBS for late/overlimit ?

ever seen anything like that on your monthly statement?

or don't you get those ?

how long have you not been paying what you should be?

not got PPI too have you?

I don't have statements - they did send me them when the account was active and no doubt will have received penalty fees. I'm not sure about the PPI - i seem to recall cancelling something like that that was on the account when it was active but I'm not 100% sure

Since around 2012 I've been paying a nominal monthly amount each month
