Rather than bankruptcy*at this stage, I opted to request my debt written off.

So far,

I have had just over £10k written off,

the rest, I am awaiting a decision still.

Many had written my debt off with my first request showing proof of my long-term illness,

others are being a bit more difficult, I have had to send further medical evidence.

For those that have written off my debt,

how do I get this removed from my credit file please or is it automatic after a set time?

Or is it just marked as 'settled'?

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

  • 2 months later...

Thanks to all the Cagger's here,

I have been fairly successful in having £10,500 in credit card and catalogue debts written off due to ill health (10 creditors agreed finally).

I thank you all that have helped me.

I have two creditors remaining,

that are proving difficult,

if I am successful with these then I will be debt free (in 6 years my credit file will be clean) and no need for bankruptcy.

The two creditors are:

1. Mortgage Express (originally Bradford & Bingly and GMAC)

-House repossessed

-Mortgage shortfall of £64k

-I had written two requests to write off the debt,

on my third request,

they are in the process of 'considering' debt forgiveness after I provided three months of bank statements.

If they refuse,

then I will have no choice but to go bankrupt,

they are dragging their heels.

2.Barclaycard (originally an egg credit card)-I owe £5500.

After two requests to write the debt off under medical grounds,

they have refused and stated that they will not pursue me at this time

and will keep in touch and see if my circumstances change,

despite me showing that I have a long-term incurable medical condition,

I do not see what they expecting to change,

the debt is just causing me huge anxiety and stress).

I do not understand why they will not accept my medical evidence,

as they made the decision to write off my other Barclaycard of £2500 based on the same medical evidence.

Could it be that they will not write off the £5500 because they purchased the debt from egg?

3, With the 10 creditors who have written off over £10,500 combined,

I have noticed the wording of the letters,

mostly saying "we have written off your debt",

however, some letters say "we will no longer be pursueing you for this debt", should I be worried about the latter wording?

Can anyone help me with this query please? Thank you.

probably not, but you'll soon know if they decide to sell one on as you'll get a notice if they do.

what does your credit file show re
