I understand there a homeless at home policy, is there anywhere I can get information on how this should be implemented by the local housing authority please. I am asking as all requests to them regarding this are currently being ignored.

Take your time and have a good read of the links.

Have they actually registered as Homeless with the Council and had a response?

yes they have,

but it was made clear that the housing they currently have is temporary, in order to avoid street homelessness, and the council stated that being 'at home' abeit overcrowded and two adults sharing a room that are not a couple and of opposite sex, which I understood was not allowed ....was still better than the B&B that the council could offer if they could find a place at all.

However now a few months later when enquiries as to how temporary the council are meaning, it transpires they have not logged the person as homeless at home which is a recognised status apparently and they should be treated the same as if they were in B&B etc..

..this is a separate issue to my other post, two different families.

I have advised the person write and make this clear and maybe contact their district councillor..

..its madness how bad the housing situation is.

I can see what your saying but have a look at this link from Shelter: http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/homelessness/homelessness_-_an_introduction/legal_definition_of_homelessness

Specifically go down the webpage to: Homeless if you have accommodation

Have a wee chat with Shelter,

Thankyou....well the council have been told by the family helping this person that it is only temporary as it has caused an overcrowded situation to only be worse...I have put them in contact with shelter who are helping with advice and a legal rep.

Thankyou for the shelter link I hadn't thought of them in this scenario.
