A car park operator has been disciplined after some of its employees altered photographic evidence to unfairly impose parking charges.

UK Parking Control, which operates more than 1,400 car parks, previously admitted some timestamps were changed to make it appear cars had overstayed.

The company has been given eight sanction points by the British Parking Association (BPA).

It could be expelled from the scheme if it gets more points.

If this happens it will not be able to get vehicle keeper details from the DVLA, meaning it cannot pursue drivers for money.

However, the matter is not being sent to a police force for investigation.

An Action Fraud spokesperson said: "Contact has been made by the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau with UKPC who have implemented their own internal measures to resolve the situation."

The DVLA is still investigating UKPC and has stopped providing vehicle keeper details to the company while its inquiry is under way.

A DVLA spokesperson said: "I can confirm that UK Parking Control has been suspended while we carry out our investigation.

"We take our responsibility to protect information seriously. If it is brought to our attention that a company requesting vehicle keeper information may not be meeting the necessary standards, we will investigate."

A car park operator whose staff changed times on photos to wrongly issue tickets is being investigated again following claims it misled drivers.

UKPC was temporarily suspended from using DVLA data to trace drivers' addresses, meaning unpaid fines given during the ban could not be chased.

But the BBC filmed car park attendants claiming people issued tickets during that time would still be pursued.

For those with Sky who don't live in the West Midlands, Inside Out will be broadcast on channel 959 or on the iPlayer shortly after transmission.

If it is proved that staff at UKPC are still behaving badly, the BPA will have no other option than to issue the 4 extra points that then bans them from being a member of the BPA.

If they give less than 4 points, it will show the BPA up for what they really are,'an old mates club'

Silver Fox here is an extract from the BBC News on the 10th January

BPA boss Patrick Troy said the "thorough" investigation had concluded an expulsion from the organisation "was not warranted".

But he told the BBC: "If there's a repeat of any kind of misbehaviour, that will almost certainly result in expulsion or further suspension."

Surely when there has been more than one incident of attempted fraud that it should be the Police and the CPS who decide what action to take rather than

it being left to a two bit company. As it is it could well be that no one would be surprised to hear that Mickey Mouse was seen in Disneyworld sporting a Patrick

Troy watch. His company should be holed below the water after that mild reprimand to a totally discredited company.

Wasn't that quote from the previous misdeeds? I am yet to watch the program.

As this is another case of fraud, expulsion should be automatic.

Too darned right.

The Tory Legacy

Record high Taxes, Immigration, Excrement in waterways, energy company/crony profits

Record low: living standards and investment

Crumbling Hospitals, Schools, council services, businesses and roads

If only the Govt had thrown a protective ring around care homes with the same gusto they do around their crooked MPs

“This is specifically not allowed. Mr. Mansour used to be a Cabinet Minister in Egypt, he has given the Tories a huge amount of money, and immediately gets a knighthood.

That seems straightforwardly corrupt.  Shouldn’t they both be in jail?”

It is in the interests of both parties to be nice to each other, UKPC need to bein an accredited operator scheme to access the DVLA database and the BPA needs its membership to show some sort of legitimacy (and they want the money).

Even if the parking companies had to be part of a government regulated scheme the same financial impetus is there, look at G4S and all the things they do wrong but the SIA gives them an easier ride because of all the contracts they have with HMG that couldnt be dropped tomorrow if they were properly censured.

Parking Eye is owned by Capita group and again, the govt cant upset them or they will strugle with a bundle of outsourced contracts for everything from TV licences to placing of gilts on the stock market. It may be that the banks have been told that they are no longer too big to fail but some companies are still in that lucky position.
