Hi to you all, I've recently started a claim against the bank of Scotland...

I both a letter - using the template in the library - last Thursday (9th Jan), I asked for all charges to be returned, and a list of all bank charges.

I've yet to recieve any kind of reply.

How long does it usually take for the bank to get back to you in any kind of way, I said I was giving them 7 days in the letter, or I'd start a court case. I'm wondering if I should send out a final letter, or keep waiting.

I sent these letters to the HQ's, however after speaking to my mate who is a financial advisior, he said I should have sent the letters to my branch, with CC at the bottom of the letter, and the address of the HQ. He said this would force the branch to take action as they know HQ is involved.

I have only written to my local branch and received unsatisfactory reply. I have deliberately not gone to customer care. On 27 Feb I will personally serve County Court Claim. That will concentrate minds :!:

Only make threats or set deadlines that you will keep to. It's not worth bothering otherwise.

Can I just clear this up for my own peace of mind? You are citing English court proceedings, so I take it you're taking action against an English branch of the Bank of Scotland?

I'm asking because anyone coming to this thread and not knowing there is a difference in procedure between Scotland and England may try to do an on-line MoneyClaim against a Scottish branch, which won't work.

I'm not asking for any details other than confirmation that you are taking your particular action in England.

Thanks

I've just read in the step by step guide that they have 40 days to supply me with the list of charges, so does that mean I have to wait 40 days from the letter before I start bank proceedings ?

If you don't know how much you are claiming then yes
