RE: Data Protection Act 1998 – Subject Access Request

Dear Sir/Madam

ACCOUNT NUMBER: ******** – SORT CODE: ******

ACCOUNT NUMBER: ******** – SORT CODE: ******

Please supply me with a complete list of transactions and charges relating to my banking history with your organisation. Alternatively, a complete set of statements for that period will be acceptable.

Additionally, where there has been any event in my account history over this period which has required manual intervention by any member of your staff, or any other person, I require disclosure of any indication or notes which have either caused or resulted in that manual intervention, or other evidence of that manual intervention in relation to my banking business with you.

If you are unable to supply this data because there has been no such manual intervention, then please be so kind as to confirm this in your response.

I enclose the statutory maximum fee of £10. You have 40 days in which to comply. Furthermore, if I discover that you have levied disproportionate penalties against me, then I shall be reclaiming them, and also reclaiming the enclosed £10 Data Protection Act subject access request fee.

If there is specific information which you require in order to satisfy yourself as to my identity, please let me know by return. However, please note that the above address is the one which you normally use to communicate my private business to me and which you have hitherto found to be acceptable.

I would be happy to collect the Data from my local branch.

Yours faithfully,

Darren Thrower

I took the address from BankFodder's Contact post so it should be ok.

I just can't wait to see how much charges i'm owed - i'm guessing for the last 6 years it's got to be about £10k - i'm so crap with money!!

Apart from this - all money matters are now dealt with by my better half!!

Anyone got any comments on this?

Or is this just a standard letter sent out?

Today I recieved a large package with all my bank statements from 2000

My other half is going through them highlighting the charges.

What can we claim back and what can't we claim back?

That's my problem now - I don't want to start claiming stuff i'm not allowed to slow up the process!

Any help greatly appreciated!!

Hi Percy, ive not started my claim against RBS, I am tackling others first. However in relation to what you can claim for, take a look at the FAQ section which covers this in detail. The trickiest bit I found was the interest part of the reclaim, ie the interest they will have charged you on top of your penalty charge. However if you have all the statements then you should be able to do this easy enough with the complex spreadsheet for charges which you can find in the templates section. TSB have scuppered my attempt to do this as they have only sent a list of charges and not the full statement so I cannot calculate the true interest charges. Sounds like your quids in though. good luck.
