I am not sure if I am in the correct forum for this. I have not come on here to be criticised. I am in a big mess.

I missed last months mortgage and secured loan due to my gambling addiction. And again this month I have spent half of the payments and dont have enough money for the payments.

I am in a massive mess, I have no family to borrow the money from, and too embarrassed to ask my friends.

I am already in arrears with my mortgages.

I can afford to make the payments for my mortgage, but I have the addiction. Started of with £20 then kept chasing my money.

Is there any help I can receive from my mortgage company or should I approach the council for help

Admitting you have a problem is only the first step. getting the help is what you need most.

Swallow your pride and go and see your doctor. It may be that you are depressed and do not realise it and the rush of the win gives you the euphoria you are craving. Counselling or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can be most useful. Even a short course of happy pills may help.

Gamblers anonymous are the obvious contact and I recommend them highly

As to your other issues, the council may help (but not guaranteed) if you lose your home.

Write to your lender and explain why the mortgage has not been paid and offer the monthly amount plus an amount each month to cover the arrears.

The roof over your head is the most important thing.

Any Unsecured debts are low priority and can be treated as such.

If you have loans or credit cards, write to them as well and offer lower payments so you can bring your mortgage up to date.

The hardest thing for uou now is to desist from entering any gambling establishment.

Leave your money at home and only take out what you need, nothing else.

I have had a few past personal problems from when I was younger. Being abused and losing my 1st husband to cancer (I was 21). Could this be my depression and I dont realise. I think I am happy in myself tho.

Will the Mortgage Company understand if I explain the situation I am in. I just dont want to lose my home. And to embarassed to tell my husband now.

No guarantees what the mortgage company will say until you try. You could say temporary money issues instead.

I really hate to say this but, I feel you should tell your husband although I have no idea if he will be supportive or not. That has to be your decision.

I was happy in myself too but it was a facade and I bottled it up for ages and then I blew for no apparent reason. If you were to explain to your doctor your circumstances, they may see what you may not. (book a double appointment)

As for the internet, hard. If you are unable to keep off the sites and you are unable to talk to your husband, GA may be able to offer solutions
