Hi All

I have just joined and looking for some advise please.

I am in a lot of dept to the sum of 60k

I don't want to go bankrupt as I am self employed and it will cause me a lot of hassle .

I talked to a dept company yesterday and they have said I best go bankrupt

but as I said to them I don't want to I rather pay some of the money back than walk away paying nothing .

I don't have any assets and my earnings are limited but I can afford about £250 per month towards my depts.

I have talked to a few people and they say an IVA can run for 5 yrs and then I can be dept free

Do you think that the amount I can afford will be accepted for one of them

..The guy on the phone yesterday was not much help

TBH SO I AM A LITTLE CONFUSED .

can some help thanks

Hello and welcome to CAG :welcome:

Firstly you MUST STAY OFF THE PHONE!

Deal ONLY in writing, if they ring you, tell them "Everything in writing" and hang up, do this each and every time they call, they soon get the message.

You also need to start a paper trail of evidence, keep a diary of events, and firstly check your credit files and see what is being reported on them.

You will be better off using Experian (30 day free trial) as this is likely to be the most accurate and up to date, alternatively send them £2 for your credit files.

Yours is only 4k less than the amount of debt I had before I found CAG, however our circumstances are very very different.

You need to set out, how much you owe and who too, also what the current state of the accounts are, whether they are in default, or your just about keeping your head above water.

There will be plenty of advice from others on here, just give them time to advise.

Check your credit files.

List all your creditors and the amount owed.

Also what the debts are loans/credit cards/overdrafts etc

And when you took out these agreements.

Who ever heard of someone getting a job at the Jobcentre? The unemployed are sent there as penance for their sins, not to help them find work!

list the debts

who they are with

who they originated from

how much

when taken out.

list of defaults is no good

these CCJ's

were you aware of the court cases

got ANY prior paperwork

contested them?

dx

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...
