Hi all,

I want to send an SAR to one of my former employers, specifically to get proof of training records and a qualification achieved. This is the NHS and so I wanted to know how to go about this without having to pay the maximum fee that I know they can charge to patients requesting their medical records (as this in quite a bit more than the standard SAR fee)

Any suggestions on how I can go about this?

If it's not possible them I will have to pay for the full NHS one as it would be interesting to read through all the medical records they hold about me from a childhood being referred to specialist services for diagnosis and treatment!!

if they paid for the qualification technically they own the certificate. I'd go to the training provider or awarding body and find out the fee for a replacement certificate and just pay it. Faster and easier.

Never assume anyone on the internet is who they say they are. Only rely on advice from insured professionals you have paid for!

Hi altobelli,

Not asked them for info yet. Guess I was looking at ways to ask for the info and thought an SAR was the easiest way.

Hi Emmzzi,

The training was all carried out internally with external verification, the qualification is an NVQ level 3 so I'm not even sure who would be the awarding body!!

Thanks for the replies though guys/gals!!

Then the awarding body should issue you with a certificate, even if this done internally. Cant see a need for doing a SAR and paying £10 for something you should be given anyway. Just ask them nicely to start with and then ask the external award body if you dont get the paperwork.

Thanks ericsbrother,

One problem is I have no idea who the awarding body is!! I will write a polite letter to the hospital explaining that I need evidence of the qualification and ask them to provide me with whatever they can to assist!!

Why not give them a call initially? If they hold copies of the information you need then they might be willing to provide it to you for free. Its worth a try. I think its early to raise a SAR at this stage, I would only consider this if they refuse to provide the information and there is no other easy way to obtain it.
