There are a number of threads on this forum connected to Yes the Sofa Specalists / Yes Sofa Specialists which you can find by searching.

I wanted to start a new thread because most of these threads concentrate on a company now in liquidation called EXCLUSIVE LEATHER SOFAS LIMITED (company no. 04290207) and many other similarly named companies that are now either in liquidation or have been dissolved. Many believe that the group of people (including Gary / Garry Peter Lord and Jerome Good - these are previous directors of the above named companies) who ran these companies are now doing similar work ripping of customers through Yes the Sofa Specialists. There is evidence through the fact that both of the stores for Yes the Sofa Specialists (Brimingham and Droitwich) occupy the same site as E.L.S. / Leather Lords, and customers have testified to having received invoices / receipts with E.L.S headed paper. In addition to this, many people on this forum recognise staff who worked in both stores.

The connection between E.L.S. and Yes the Sofa Specialist was disputed by one forum member who claimed that Yes the Sofa Specialist was connected with an old company called Exclusive LOUNGE Sofas. However, there is absolutely no evidence of this whatsoever and no trace of this company exists.

So... now that E.L.S., Leather Lords etc etc have all bitten the dust what about Yes the Sofa Specialist?? This is what I would like to discuss in this thread as I am a customer myself who has paid a deposit but not yet seen my sofas!

This is what I have gathered so far...

Company name

Everything is branded as "Yes the Sofa Specialist" but there are no limited companies registered by this name or anything similar. The invoice / receipt does not give a company number, or an official registered company name.

Company registered address

The website implies that the official address is their showroom in Droitwich:

Yes Sofa Specialist

Droitwich Retail Park

Kidderminster Road

Droitwich

WR9 9AY

However, in the terms and condition on the invoice / receipt the Birmingham showroom is labelled as the "Registered Address"

Camp Hill Industrial Estate

1 John Kempe Way

Birmingham

West Midlands

B12 0HU

It is not clear who this is "registered" with as I still cannot find a limited company with this as its registered address.

I did ring them up and ask them what their Company Name was. "Ollie" answered the phone, and despite others saying that Ollie has identified himself to them as the "area manager" he told me that the manger wasn't in and he didn't know what the company name was.

So that is all I have managed to find out! Can anyone else who has had dealings with them please help to add to this thread. The more information we have, the easier it will be to take these people to the small claim court (if necessary). At the moment it seems like the company doesn't actually exist as the most "official" thing about them is the showrooms themselves.

I do have an outstanding order and my experience is very similar to that of other people on this forum in terms of their experience with ELS / Yes the Sofa Specialists. I could go into detail if required.

I would imagine that the reason they do not have many reviews is because they haven't been going that long. As you say of the reviews they have, a large proportion are bad, some very bad indeed.

I am interested by the fact that official company information is so hard to find...

I have a current problem with Yes Sofa Specialists of Camp Hill, Birmingham, due to the non-delivery of a sofa that was ordered last October, and despite their promises have failed to deliver twice now over the last week, without a call or explanation either time.

The sales invoice is in the name of Sofa Specialists, the deposit credit card receipt is in the name of Leather World Birmingham and the balance credit card receipt is in the name of Sofa Specialist. The registered office on the invoice at clause 9.1 of the T&Cs is 1 John Kempe Way, Camp Hill, Birmingham, Birmingham B12 0HU

I believe we also have an issue with Yes Sofa Specialists of Camp Hill, Birmingham. We ordered in January and still haven't received what we ordered despite being told it would take 8 weeks to delivery. They are now saying that it will arrive in the next week. I'm not holding my breath. I hope I'm proved wrong and that we do receive our sofa next week. Sitting on the floor isn't great.

Write them a recorded letter quoting that date and making that date of the essence in other words if it's not delivered then, the contract is deemed broken and you want a full refund.

Unfortunately, there's not a lot of honesty coming out of Yes Sofa Specialists. In a way, if they told you the truth it would make things a lot better, and at least you'd know where you stand.

My order from October was supposed to take 16 weeks and after a lot of false promises and let downs, eventually turned up at 9:30 one night in week 26. You should try to find out whether the container shipment has actually arrived in the country, which seems to be their biggest issue for delays. They do not seem to be in control of this and therefore "fob" people off, becuase they just don't know. Their customer service is non-existent.

So the choices are (1) sit tight (sadly on the floor!), or (2) try and persue them for breach of contract. I was so relieved that I didn't have to choose option 2, as whatever the law of contract says, this is not an easy route to follow. Whatever you do, always may sure that you make any payments via credit card, to ensure you at least have that fall-back cover, if they do fail to deliver or even go out of business.

I wish you well.

I am happy to report that we've received our sofa bed, chair and footstool. Quality looks fine and we are very happy not to be sitting on the floor anymore. We didn't have any issues with the delivery. Once we paid the balance the delivery was arranged within an hour and it arrived on the scheduled day without any issues. The delivery guys were also very accommodating. Actually we didn't have any problems with the staff from Yes Sofa and our only complaint would be the length of time it took (17 weeks, when we were told it would take 8 weeks) and their communication wasn't great.

I don,t think you can depend on the the delivery times of these kind of company`s. I expect that the only stock they have is in the showrooms. Can,t see them having a couple of sofas that have been ordered shiped over in a container, I suspect they wait until they have enough orders to fill a container and they probably use the deposits that they take to pay for that shipment.

I'm also waiting for my sofa. I ordered my sofa January 15th and was told it was a 16wk wait but would probably get it 2wks before. I'm now in the 21st wk. Been back to the shop and was told we would get a phone call to let us know what is happening and YES we r still waiting. Not happy.

Welcome Rosy.

Get on to them, make time of the essence and tell them that if it is not delivered by next Friday, the order is cancelled and you require a full refund.

You cannot just have a non refundable deposit scheme when you break the contract.

I would set up a business offer the highest quality furniture for a couple of hundred pounds that required a deposit of £100 and then just banked the money and didn't bother with the suite because I had a non refundable deposit scheme.

That only works if you withdraw for no legitimate reason, not because they have failed to deliver as promised.

Hello, I am having real issues with them at the moment too! It has been very difficult to find out who is in charge of the whole company and who to go to, or write to in regards to problems/issues etc. If anyone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We went and bought a 3 piece on Sun 16th Sept and it is an ex display so it is actually in store needed a little repair done on the back, so we paid in full via debit card & the guy said he would call me Tue to arrange delivery for Sun 23rd Sept, I didnt recieve a phone call and after trying to call 3 times this morning with no answer my husband came across this site which then got us worried!! So my husband has just driven over to Droitwich and they said the repair has been done and delivery will be Tue 25th Sept. So we will just have to see as they dont have any excuse of it not being in stock! If not im going to get hold of a van ourselves and go get it. Will keep you posted on this and let u all know how it goes....

I'm in the middle to threatening legal action - but it's not known as Yes Sofa Specialists - its Tailor Made Sofas and their address is Unit 1,2,3 George Bayliss Road, Droitwich WR9 9RB. My story in a nutshell is that I ordered and paid for a suite none months ago and am still awaiting delivery despite numerous promises from the manage, one Oliver Goode.
