Just got my new council tax bill and it says £1700 subject to court proceedings. I do owe this but have been paying it off I just wondered what 'subject to court proceedings' actually means? Does it mean they are taking me to court or they could take me to court? Thanks.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Lauren,

It's quite possible that they have liability order proceedings in the offing due to late or non payment during some months. These proceeding could well increase the amount owed hence the statement.
