Hi

I just received a call from a company called Accident Response advising me that there has been money set aside for me for a road accident I was involved in in April 2010.

As far as I was aware this had been dealt with by my car insurer Churchill.

The other driver accepted all blame and my car was repaired - end of.

They have stated that they have money set aside for me and my 4 kids who were also in the car. It all seems very strange.

This is the second time they have called me.

The first time was several weeks ago and they did say I would receive another call from a "specialist"!!

I gave out no details they seemed to know everything

I just wanted to know if anyone else had come across anything like this.

I dont want to get my hopes up of getting some much needed cash to find out its all some sick dodgy [problem]!!

Thanks

Leah

If you have not put in a personal injury claim, then someone from the Insurers has passed details on to gain a referral fee. If you followed this up, the person who made the referral would then no doubt obtain the referral fee.

I personally don't like this and it is just driving everyones premium up. To make the claim, you would have to go to the extent of seeing doctors about having a neck pain or other injury. Because there are kids involved, it can even more complicated, as if this ever ended up in court because the third parties Insurers disputed the claim, then you have the court trying to protect their interest. Someone I know had a genuine claim and their kids had to attend the court, with the judge asking them about their injuries. So unless there is a genuine claim that could be made, you should probably stay away from them. Why would you use a company that makes these cold calls, when you can use any 'no win no fee' company or your Insurers legal expenses cover.

We could do with some help from you.

Personally I would just tell to send me the money now.

This would no doubt get involved in some kind of claims

scenario.

If they have the send it now to cut down on paperwork.

Sounds like a fishing exercise. Cold call as many people as they can and hope for a bite.

If you were genuinely injured the Google a personal injury accident solicitor and use them instead.

This is fishing, did they refer to the particluar incident? or just state your recent accident?According to the phone calls I have, I'm owed millions for my ppi and injury claims I've had but seem to have forgotten about. I'm not sure how easy it is to obtian access to cue, if you can let's face it you could pull off list after list and cold call refering to recent incidents. ......hmmmm.

My mum received a similar phone call at my sister's house but I had answered the call and the woman on the other end of the line have me am awful lot of information about it.

Apparently the third party insurers passed on my mum's details as the claim was closed by them with no payout made to my mum for personal injury!! This is interesting as the matter of personal injury is being dealt with by a firm of solicitors and we are waiting on final settlement after seeing specialists etc.

As soon as I mentioned that, far from being closed, the case is still waiting settlement the woman said she would close their file on the matter and refer it back to the third party's insurers!!

  • 6 years later...

On consulting with my insurers, they told me that [problem] companies register with the CUE database as all they need in a companies house number.

Then, they use software to rip people's details from this directly to cold caller staff who then trawl down a never-ending list.

As far as I can see, the only way around this is for the government to legislate against these companies having access to CUE.

But, as very few people know this is happening, there isn't any pressure on legislators.
