Hi all

Sometime ago i took a cash genie loan , well was forced to by a violent ex partner who wanted money.

i fell into arrears and cash genie took £600.00 out of my bank account one day leaving me with no money for food or bills. Literally not one penny. I posted on here because i was in a state and someone from cash genie saw my thread and Peter Turvey called me on my mobile. I was too scared to pick up the phone for ages but eventually i did. He said that I seemed like a genuine case and didnt want to leave me in hardship so refunded the full £600.00 back and gave me an extra £50.00 for a take away. I was over the moon and even though I know some people have ahd a hard tiome with cash genie still posted to say what they had done for me and how releived i was .

I set up an instalment plan and paid my first installment no problem via my internet bank. I then dedided to set up a standing order to make sure that the money was paid ever month but for some reason it didnt go through in october. I recieved an email from cash genie and looked into why the money hadnt gone. My bank told me it had and i expected them to receive it. i received another email saying they hadnt got it so i called the bank and checked the details. i had entred the account nymber wrong and the money would be transferred back to me (it was in a holding account or something) I couldnt pay cash genie the money till i received it back because things are literally that tight for me being a single parent.

In the meantime of all this happening i suffered a miscarriage. I am an older woman and was over the moon at what i saw was my last chance to have a baby. I have been bed ridden and totally greif stricken for a week now and i am under the doctor for sever depression. I am back to self harming which is something i havent done for 20 years.

I decided this morning to make the effort and get out of bed if only to bathe and check my mail. in all of this i had totally fogotten about the cash genie payment. I received an email from them telling me that they are taking me to court for the sum of £1400 approx. I burst into tears and have emailed them telling them the situation but havent received a reply. i emailed again but still nothing.

I am so terrfied and out of my mind with worry that I really feel i have had enough of all of this. This last year has been horrific for me and i just have had enough of everything. I feel utterly suicidal. i dont care what they do to me. I havent got the strength to fight them. I know that i cant go to court, i will have a neverous breakdown. I am feeling so frantic that i nearlly called the police. I called my doctor and he is now worried and mentioned that maybe for my own good i should be sectioned.

I dont know whats happening. My life is in chaos. How do i owe all this money? The loan was 200 something??? When did all of this go so wrong.

Akania, firstly sorry to hear of your recent troubles. Secondly, do not worry about these shysters Cash Genie, these jokers are all threats. What you owe them is loan plus one months interest less whatever you have already paid them no more, no less. Although CG do issue court summons's & have been issuing them more often recently these rarely if ever go the whole way to court & they back down when a defence against there exorbitant charges & interest, challenges them. Sillygirl or someone of similar knowledge will help you with a defence if it ever comes to it. Read some of the other threads here & it will ease your mind.

Akania please do not worry. Quite simply what can they do to you? They cannot take money you do not have. If they take you to Court the judge will be much more sympathetic than this dreadful company and you will probably end up paying back a much smaller figure at a tiny amount per month. Keep in touch with the forum and you will get any help you need. At the end of the day it really is only money. Just that. All I hope is that anyone reading from Cash Genie realises what they are doing to vulnerable people. I don't suppose for a minute that they actually care as long as they can bully and threaten, but I just thank God I don't have to do what they do for a living. I would not sleep at night!

HAve you got the court papers yet, an email is just that, an email designed to threaten you.

They would be on a very very sticky wicket given your circumstances and their attempted 'theft' of all your money, that can all go in a defence, as can your health situation.

They CANNOT get what they want unless you do not defend, and I can write a FACTUAL defence against them. That is usually all it takes, a FACTUAL defence which does not give them any legal room to argue back in court.

sorry to hear about your troubles hun. i am about to tell my 7 payday loan companies that they have £38.00 a month to share between them. last month i couldnt pay my rent because almost all of my wages went in either fullpayments or interest charges. my son in law has taken control of my finances...i am 6k in debt......not too bad really but i cant continue to work all month and be left with nothing.i will write to them all and tell them they are putting me in financial hardship and offer them on 5.00 p.w.......watch this space.

i have now been in touch with most of these companies and i must say cash genie were as nice as pie....i am paying them back at 20.00 a month(owe them just 120.00)and they were even prepared to wait until my next payday. another sympathtic company was 24/7 moneybox, again happy to wait until my april payday. hopefully can get my money troubles sorted in a year to 18 months and get back on track.

Nice how they are being all nicey nicey at the moment. I wonder why that might be?
