Sent a letter about 3 weeks ago stating that I wanted all penalty charges back had a letter today offering a full 100% of charges (+ 8% int) back as a good will gesture.

I have to say, well done EPF, because I was expecting a fight.

Hi, wouldve sent this in a message but cant until ive made 5 posts... lol

After reading this thread about beating EPF I just wanted to ask a quick question :)

Ive just found out that ive been paying PPI against a EPF loan for the last 4 1/2yrs & in the process of sorting the SAR to start proceedings. Did you use the SAR for your 'charges' claim or just a simple letter starting 'i know you did wrong, gimme my money back'?

All the websites i look at all use say to send a SAR with £10 asking for the paperwork (which i already have), but just wondering whether you did the same or just a simple letter explaining what your intentions were?!

Cheers, Matt

Matt, it is always best to do your own spreadsheet so you know exactly what you should be getting back.. so unless you have all your statements, then SARing is the way to go :)

Of course you could always trust the bank to do the right thing.. !!! and just ask for your money back.. !!!

Hi, cheers for that. Have got the loan statements along with the original contracts so can quite easily work out the interest charged. May simply start off by chatting to the person on the phone on monday, depending on them, will go with either the 'personal letter' or the SAR route :)

Either way, will keep updating (hopefully with the same news as RDM!! :whoo:)
