Hello,

Basically I got a credit card statement from Mint the other day for a balance I thought I'd cleared two tears ago. Looks like there was a small amount outstanding still, maybe some interest acrewed.

But they have been sending the statements to the wrong address for two years and now I have a bigger balance to clear due to a lot of interest and late payments.

Any ideas how I should proceed?

Regards,

M

Hi

Am I right in thinking you moved house after clearing the balance?

I think the best way to handle this is to contact Mint IN WRITING. This debt is made up primarily of charges. Get those charges removed and offer to pay the outstanding amount. As part of this, I would check your credit file and see if they have placed a default and if so request removal as part of the settlement.

You thought you had cleared the balance so you wouldn't have needed to inform them of your new address. It may be worth sending them a SAR to ascertain what the outstanding balance was before they added the charges
