i need to know what benefits i claimed back in 2000 to 2002. i called benefits line but i think they thought something was odd and refused to answer me and said someone would call me back. well three weeks later im still waiting.

 

do they hold these records ?

They should hold it on their computerised systems. You would need to make a subject access request under section 7 of the data protection act (in writing) to the data controller, to obtain this information, or use the attachment below and take it to your nearest DWP office. There is a statutory maximum fee of £10 for this, but if you are in receipt of income based benefits at the moment they may waive this fee. They have 40 days in which to provide the information. I've attached their template. Note it doesn't mention a fee - I therefore wouldn't pay it outright - wait and see if they ask for it!

thank you for that. im asking as i attended uni in 2000 - 2002, i was a single parent on benefits, others in my position have never been asked to pay 17 thousand quid back but i am.
