Hi

I am hopefully receiving some money 10k and i am on income support, I have done the right thing and declared this to the dss but was just wondering what will happen now, will i have to fill in another income support form? how much money will they deduct? I think i can have £6000 before they start deducting?. I dont mind this as i am doing this as its the right thing to do ,just wondering what happens now i have told them.

thanks guys

Any money you have at £6000.00 reduces your weekly benefit. It used to be a pound of benefit was reduced for every £250 (or part thereof) over the £6000.00 mark I think its still the same.

I'm not sure what amount of Income Support you get weekly but the standard amount is £64.30 so the calculation would be something like this

£10000.00 - 6000 = 4000.00 div by 250.00 = 16

64.30 - 16.00 = 48.30

Hope that helps
