Hi there, I received a letter from the Council last week stating that I had to pay all my council tax in one go as I had missed the the two previous monthly payments and I had 7 days in which to pay it in.

Basically the reason it hadn't been paid was due to quite difficult cash flow problems.

What I am asking is, is there anything I can do except pay the full amount that would stop me ending up in court? I can't afford to pay the full amount and probably not even the months installment at the minute but I would be happy to offer them payment.

Thank you.

Which DCA should we bring down first?

Answers on a postcard :D

You can ring the council, tell them of the problem and ask for an arrangement to complete the years tax.

You will probably get a summons to establish liability as the council cannot demand any payments from you without this order.
