I found your website via the money expert and would like some advice if possible.

I have banked with Barclays for over 18 years now and currently have an additions account with them. Due to timings of my salary going into my account and direct debits going out (usually on the same day) I have been frequently charged £25 for going over my overdraft limit and in my recent statement have found that its going UP to £30. I did phone to see if it was possible to temporarily increase my overdraft but was told because I had exceeded my overdraft limit more than once in the last 3 months that it was not possible. So therefore keep getting charged £25 as well as paying an Overdraft Protection fee of £12 most months and interest some months they take from me more than I earn in a week so as you can imagine I am going round and round in circles because of charges on my account.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks I have now read through and it seems I may be able to proceed with trying to claim back charges. Please could you tell me what the likelyhood is of it reaching court or do these claims normally end up settled out of court ?

There have only been 2 cases, as far as I am aware, which have been settled in court. 1 won and 1 lost (we now have a defence for the reason it was lost)

Most cases are settled before. I would stress this to my knowledge only.

However, you must be prepared to take your case before a judge

If I were you I'd cancel the Additions account subscription as well. £10 a month for an interest free overdraft isn't worth it.
