Hi Everyone

I am a new member and this is my first thread so any support gratefully accepted.

Have banked quite happily with RBOS for last 7 years or so and then recently I banked hard cash into my a/c via the Natwest. It wasn't picked up for 2 days in RBS a/c so they charged me when a cheque cleared taking me over my agreed O/D limit. The charge went through a month after this happened and that in turn left me without enough cash for a cheque to clear (my fault I know!) so they have bounced the chq, charged me for the pleasure and further charged me for once again being over my O/D limit and the interest has gone from pennies to over a tenner!

Can I reclaim all these charges?

Should I pay it off now to halt the spiral of charges getting out of control?

Thanks everyone.

I'd pay it off for the time being.

Write a letter of complaint to RBS, outlining why you think you have been unfairly treated.... and that their poor banking services when you have banked cash has led to charges being placed on your bank which you feel justifiably aggrevied over.

They'll likely write back giving you some waffle, at that point complain to the Financial Ombudsman service.

(most important keep copies of all your correspondence).

Hi Enron, thanks for that, I have been looking through my statements for all previous charges & found a reply to a complaint (June 07) from RBS regarding the legal proceedings with OFT and that all complaints will be resolved following the test case etc etc.

Having read other threads I believe I should still send the Request for Repayment letter and include all charges and start the process pending the outcome of this test case?

I will make a payment to put my a/c back within the agreed o/d limit and as I have now moved to a new bank will leave things in limbo with them whilst this goes through. Think thats right ....

Old-Andrew - not sure what the Bump is about? Am I in the wrong place?
