I have sent the threatening letter to MBNA, and I have received a letter back asking me to phone them.

What is the general attitude to phone calls? My feeling is not to enter into any kind of dialogue with them at all. Would I be best off:

a) phoning them as requested and stonewalling

b) writing to them instead telling them it's non-negotiable, or

c) just going straight to moneyclaim??

Any advice gratefully accepted.

It is an easy rule to remember.

If they want you to write - phone

If they want you to phone - write

Either way be prepared for long delays. On their credit card side, I have been in "communication" with them for 9 months. They say they will look into a matter, and this message gets repeated with each reply I make, with no other result other than continued demands.

Similarly only one occasion has resulted in a telephone conversation. As promissed, they refunded improper charges, only to then continue issuing new ones in subsequent months.

Suggest you look up MBNA on financevictims.co.uk for other experiences.

I wish you luck, which you will need.
