  1. Thanks stikky, have sent one letter to MacKenzie Hall that is a kind of 'get stuffed, its barred' and one to FIRE that is basically a 'dont you dare come knocking on my door' letter. Waiting to see what they have to say .... if anything at all.
  2. This is great help. Thanks everyone. Most of my debts (apart from one) are now well over 6 years old. They date back to a rather rotten time in my life I chose to simply 'forget' as much as possible. I was just wondering whether it was worth me trying to sort anything out with these old debts or whether I should just continue to leave them alone? I did pay a few off about 3 years ago but I still get the occassional 'burst' of letters and calls from the DCA's.
  3. Thanks for the replies everyone. I have applied and paid the £8.00, just waiting now for the reply. I just thought it best that I know whats what, 'in case' anyone should come a knocking. So after the 6 years, the creditor would have to go back to the court before they could come and demand the money?
  4. Sorry if this is in the wrong place .. please move if needed, thanks. Decided that it was about time I did a thorough sorting out of all and sundry old debts (old being over 6 years .. most are about 8 years old). I have applied to the courts place to see what CCJ's I had and am awaiting their response. I am sure I have 1 or 2 that have never been enforced but it was so long ago and in a horrible period of my life I cant remember. I know about the old debts not being enforceable etc but what happens to old CCJ's? They no longer show on my credit report. If someone came knocking on my door asking for the money now what would happen? Thanks very much.
  5. Unfortunately it was only in the telephone call that the clown said they had received a payment and he didnt even seem to know much about it. When I questioned him how this could be when I had not sent anything he said that it must have been someone on my behalf!! I have done the telephone harrassement letter and sent that rec.del as it can be a bit annoying when I am trying to work, although l have to admit last time I was really cross that they put the phone down on me as I was really ready to tell them whatfor lol. Thanks for the letter template. I will do this tomorrow and see what happens. Again, thanks everyone for the help.
  6. Oh I didnt realise this. I thought everyone would hold the same information or whats the point of having a credit ref agency that only records some of the information? Thanks, will send off my payment to the other two as well.
  7. Thanks, all advice very gratefully received. I have just checked my credit file with Experian and this debt no longer exists on it. Does that mean that it is over 6 years old and has effectively 'dropped off' my file? Also if I had made a payment then surely it would show? I am a little concerned as in the past I HAVE made payments to some of my old debts to effectively pay them in full, therefore closing the account but I cant see this on my report either?
  8. Thats ok The GodMother ... I would ALWAYS put stuff in my own words etc. Thanks for the help.
  9. Hi and thanks Approx. 8 years ago the abusive relationship that I had been in for 4 years came to an end. It wasnt just physical but also mental violence and such that I was made to take out loans and credit cards in my name. Luckily for me (and our 2 children) the animal ran off with another woman (a friend unbelieveably) but left me with a considerable amount of debt. Some of the debts I managed to pay with help from my father. Some of them I wrote to and explained that I had no money, two small kids and wasnt working. We (my father and I) made offers but didnt always get a response. On top of this, about 7 years ago we had a house fire that basically destroyed all original paperwork and lots of other personal stuff. For years I have heard nothing from these DCA's. Then in 2003 I started receiving the usual letters from Cabot etc. and I managed to pay two more of the smaller amounts off. I have copies of all letters that I sent dating back to 2003. I have in the past asked for a copy of my CCA etc and yet I have never had the courtesy of a proper reply, just more of the threatening letters. For some unknown reason the letters and calls stopped around 2005. Until recently. I had one the other day (see other thread) from MacKenzie Hall regarding a debt from 1997. I have now received a letter from FIRE regarding a debt that they state was originally for Bank of Scotland credit card that was sold to Cabot. This is the first correspondence I have received regarding this particular debt. The real problem is that I dont remember (tbh there were so many and I wasnt that 'stable' for a while) when the card was taken out, when it was defaulted on etc. Although I am certain it would be over 6 years ago now. According to the letter the amount is £3914.42, whether this includes charges etc I really dont know. HTH (and a choccy for getting this far).
  10. Hi again all Can someone help me out with a letter to FIRE to tell them to get stuffed basically. They are saying that they may either: commence legal proceedings () or a Doorstep Agent will call. As my 14 year old son is at home whilst I am at work I would rather they didnt bother him. They would get very short change if they did it whilst I was there. Can one of you kind ppl therefore help me with a letter please. Thanks.
  11. Oh dont worry I am MORE than happy to slap them down if needs be.
  12. Thanks guys Excellent ... will do letter tomorrow and send off by recorded delivery. I thought horse-poo was best as I can get that for nothing and as I have to muck it out everyday I dont mind the smell so much now lol. Will keep you posted on progress.
  13. Hi I started to receive the usual 'phone calls at work from the incredibly polite people at MacKenzie Hall a few months ago. I told them that I did not wish to speak to them and please put everything in writing. At one point I was getting 4-5 calls a day at work and although I remained polite they seemed to get a little bit frustrated and hot under the collar. Resulting in them putting the phone down on me at every call. I then started to receive letters AND phone calls at work. Last but one phone call I told them the debt was statute barred ... they argued and then put the phone down when they realised that the phrase 'statute barred' begins to get boring after being said about 20 times repeatedly. The last phone call I received they said they were calling about a debt to Barclaycard dating back to 1997. First time they have even bothered to tell me what it was all about! They then said I had made a payment on the account in 2006 and so it was no longer SB. Hmmmm well I have NEVER made ANY payment to these clowns or to anyone regarding this debt and can prove it. I told them this and they asked me 'who was it then?'. I told them I had no idea but categorically stated that it wasnt me. They proceeded to tell me I would be taken to court and when I replied 'oh good, be nice to meet you' they put the phone down! Since then I have received numerous letters and a threat with a doorstep collector. So, how do I get these clowns to stop bothering me at work? Also I have never received any notification that any debt has been passed to them. Am I right in thinking that they should inform me in writing? Can you let me know/point me in the right direction to the next step in getting rid of these clowns before I take a holiday and visit them. Dont think they would like a short fat old bird on their doorstep with a bag of horsepoo ready to chuck at them!
  14. Hi No I havent. Will do that and start my own thread. Thanks.
