  1. Thank you for the replies I understand now why it is happening like it is at work.
  2. I was recently told that the department that I work in as a field engineer has been outsourced. The new company will take on all the staff contracts. I have been with the company for many years and would be happy to be made redundant, however they say that it is not possible as I either go over or will loose my job through choosing not to go. Is this correct or can I push for redundancy?
  3. I received a email from my manager recently regarding my whereabouts in my company car. There is no issue other than it shows all my private travelling. When it was fitted I signed a paper to say I was aware that I was being tracked but no mention of if I was being tracked outside working hours. Is this legal or can I request a privacy button fitting?
  4. Thank you everyone for the replies. I will ask for further information in the new year.
  5. Hi Everyone I have been at the same company over 10 years. About 5 years ago they sent me a new contract to sign. I refused and they then sent me a letter to say they had lost it in a move. I never did sign a new one. Can anyone tell me where that leaves me now? Do I have a contract of employment or can I assume I do not as I have a letter stating they lost it? I guess they still have it but will not say to me. The reason I asked is that the new law regarding travelling time for mobile workers. My contract apparently said that I would work overtime for no payment if necessary and they say that it is necessary to travel in my own time to and from customers sites. I have no problem working late if there is a problem but expecting me to do 10-15 hours in my own time a week is a lot I think? Regards
  6. Thank you for the advice. I need get a contract to read and try avoid pressure to sign it till I understand whats in it.
  7. Hi There was no notice or negotiations regarding this. Just called to get new car and everyone just accepted that they get a new car for signing a piece of paper. Are you sure you're signing a lease? I would have thought the company would sign the lease for each vehicle and you would be signing to take responsibility for the vehicle while in your possession
  8. Hi I have been working for a company for over 10 years with a fully experienced company car. The cars have always been owned by the company and in my contract it says that I am responsible for the car. Now they have decided to lease the cars and have told me I need to sign a contract with the lease company. I don't see why I should do this as I feel that its my employers responsibility to supply me a car? ( My contract covers the fact I need to look after it and pay fines ect) I will also loose some of the benefits such as being able to toke my car out the country on holiday. Can they do this or can I refuse to sign a contract with some company I don't want to? Thanks in advance Rin
  9. This is all I can see in my contract. "Your useual place of work will be at the companys offices at......., but you shall be obliged to comply with any reasonable request of the company to work at a alternative location." I have never worked at the official office allways at customers sites. Regards
  10. Hi HB My contract doesnt say anything about travelling. It does say that I must do overtime when requested. It is very old over 10 years. I was asked to sign a new one recently and refused and nothing more was said, regards Rin
  11. Hi Everyone I am employed in field work. My contract states that I must work 37.5 hours a week. As I travel to site everyday in different places It can take me hours to get there and the same to get back home. On average I travel 4 hours a day. My manager insists that this should be done in my own time. I have read on the Direct.gov website that if travelling is part of my job I can travel in company time. I would like to know what the law is regarding travelling?
