  1. Just writing for advice. Put my car in to get 2 new tyres put on the car. After getting home iv realised the alloys are all marked and scraped to hell! I took the car back down today and they have told me "they were like that" iv took videos etc and you can see clear as day it's their machine that's marked them all. Where do I stand or what so I do?

  3. Sorry I apologised for not updating beforehand. I did get in contact with a "Mr Wheeler" and did have money reimbursed in regards to the price for the wheel allignment. This is now a new issue and didnt find it necessary to start a new topic. Thankyou gor the reply

I have just had my alloy wheels refurbished 3 weeks ago and redone in gloss black, I got my hunter wheel allignment done by kwik fit last week which I have already complained about in an earlier post as the price stated was £45 however they charged me £104! I cleaned my alloys yesterday and noticed the exact same distinct mark on all 4 of my alloys and didnt know what it was.......I then had my car back in today to have the allignment recheckedas I wasnt happy with it. Watching them this time I noticed they hooked something onto all 4 alloys and thats when I thought maybe whatever they are placing on the wheels is what made the first marks....... As soon as the allignment was done I checked the wheels again and voila the exact same 4 marks where on the wheels again in different placed but again all symmetrically spread over the wheel the same as before! The devide they attach onto the wheels has 4 arm type things that hook and grip onto the alloy! Im not confrontational and was scared to say anything so I have wrote on here........ What should I do?
  5. Hanks for the replies. I will most definately be taking a trip into the shop tomorrow to take a photo of thier advertisement. I have phoned 3 seperate kwik fit garages and all have given me a price range between 30 and 45 thats including each change I had to have done. Basicaly when I arrived I seent he advrrtisement of £45 for the wheel alkignment and asked for it to be done with the views that it would be £45. The person then saif to me to wait in the waiting room where you can watch on screen how bad the toe, caster and camber are, he had done the front two and was taking a while so I oopped over to soeak to him etc then popped back into watch the rear being dne and after that well.....iv explained the rest in regards to how much I was charged etc. I just dont understand how prices can vary between each kwik fit unless its some kind of franchise? You dont goto tesco and see the same thing for a different price......
  6. Because for every adjustment they make they charge £19.95, so basicaly its £45 to just look at the alignmemt? Doesnt sound right to me....never ever had to pay £100 for an alignment in my life......iv owned 15 cars. I just moved area amd used my old kwik fit garage in my other area for years and they were always between £30 to £45 dependent on who served me. I just moved to this area 8 months ago and the first time iv used the kwik fit in this area and its suddenly increased by a HUGE ammount

I usually take my car to kwik fit regurarly although people have a stigma that they are "rip offs" but iv generaly found that you get what you pay for and the works always been good so dont see the issue of going back. Up untill the other day I asked for a wheel allignment which was fine as the price stated £44.95. So the guy asked me to sit in the waiting room while he carried out the work and I could see the progress on the screen they provided. Everything was great, guys were helpful and polite untill it came to the price! I was greeted with a price of £104 for the wheel allignment which was a joke, I was astonished. They never told me it would cost this much before it was done. I didmt anticipate how much it would cost so had only had £100 cash on me which I told the person serving me and he managed to brimg the price down to £99.95! Now if a price stated clearly at £44.95 then whacked upto £104 and then brough dowm to £99.95 this tells me theres something not right somewhere. I need my clutch replaced, waterpump and top mounts done next week but certainly wont be going to kwik fit unless rectified. I personaly think no work should ever be done without being given a full price, maybe I was nieve in thinking a price in the wall would be what I pay. I felt embaressed not having the full ammount there

  9. Heya thankyou for your reply. Should I contact the police if someone does appear? I paid for the tv in cash. I have contacted the police to let them know what happened. I explained to them that the person we got it from delivered it to us and we didnt know who they were other than their first name. The phone number they provided is no longer in use. I seen bayv are selling the tv cash price for £1500 and even if they said "yes thankyou for contacting us, we will be happy to give you £200 to give us the tv back" then I would otherwise I see them losing it......
  10. I bought a tv from gumtree for £650 2 months ago. The tv in question is an optica 42 inch led 3d smart tv. The tv worked for 2 months which is in my daughters room who is (8). Suddenly we were greeted in the morning with the message "tv locked please contact customet services on ......." I didnt know what to do other than call the number to be greeted by a nice lady on the phone. Once I explained everything to her she put me on hold and assured me it would be rectified... ..after a short moment I was then speaking to a manager who was abrupt and down right disrespectful. He demanded the tv back and threatened me with the police. I didnt know what else to do other and rebel and deny him the tv. I dont know whether it was right or wrong? He threatened me that the tv sets have a gps chip installed and it would be located and that "people" will be at my address to take it off of me! I would be happy to give the tv back so long as bayv were to refund some of the money back I paid for it as the tv is rendered useless to me anyways. I have someone wanting to take it from me for parts which im happy to do but I dont want to be breaking the law. Need help and advice badly and any given is appreciated.
  11. Well i received a phone call from kwik-fit today and that have agreed to bring the car in on friday to have the allignment checked. Whoever dealt with the complaint has impressed me, they have been very efficient, understanding and somewhat "descent" only thing im not happy about is the lack of "compensation" still wouldnt have this problem if my correct tyre size was fitted first time around. Funny enough i like "new tyres" maybe they should match my passenger side with the same tyre they changed for free?
  12. i hit the potholes but when i took it back to have the alignment done hitting them didnt even effect it, so it means i paid for an alignment that didnt need aligned that should have still fallen under my 30 days! hich i think makes it even worse? and i apologise for posting my information and thankyou for looking out for my safety. john

  15. I recently went to get a new tyre fitted at quick fit in penicuik, Edinburgh as i noticed i had a small bulge on the tyre that was on. They replaced the tyre and off i drove. once i got back to my own area (Livingston) i spun out at a roundabout which resulted in me hitting a kerb, i wa sscared to move my car as i didnt know what damage had been caused so i contacted the police and they sent out a traffic car whom confirmed it would be ok for me to drive home. a few days later i noticed my steering didnt feel the same so i booked it into my local quick fit centre in livingston to have the alignment checked. They conformed my alignment was out a little and sorted it. when i drove away i noticed it still didnt feel the same so i took it back, upon inspection the person the the livingston branch realised that the tyre that had been replaced by the penicuik branch was the WRONG size of tyre! i asked them if this could have caused me to spin out at the roundabout and they confrimed it could have as also did the police when i re-contacted them. so anyways they changed the tyre free of charge to a lower budget tyre as they didnt have the same tyre the other kwik fit changed it to (no price difference refunded) and done the allignment again which i had to pay for again! iv hit a coupe of potholes since then and have took it back to have it realigned and again have paid for it, i realiased that under their guarantee they have a 30 day warranty which no one told me about and have made me pay every single time even when it has been within the 30 day period! so with the car still not feeling right i took it to a whole new centre in edinburgh at the saughton branch who REFUSED to do my allignment altogether! not because they were busy or because of any other reason, he just point blank refused! this happened today and also the person was very arrogant and unhelpful, even when i asked him why he refused to do the car he replied " my worker is just refusing to do it for you". seems to me that because it was a free service he was having to perform he didnt want to do it! over the years i have always used quick fit and never had a problem and not listened to anyone else and now i am drastically changing my mind! so in essence i have......... 1. lost control of my car due to the wrong tyre size being fitted 2. paid for an allignment to be done because of this 3. repaid for another alignment to be done when the correct tyre size was put on 4. paid for all subsequent alignments to be done when its been within my 30 day period 5. been refused to have my alignment done again although there is no reasonable explination! 6. got a cheaper tyre than the one i paid for and not had any money refunded so yea its cost me time and money in petrol and alignments that should not even be needing done for very SIMPLE services that i have required!
