  1. All bailiff companies have welfare departments which when you ask to be referred they have to help you reach a mutually agreeable payment plan.
  2. I took out a family policy with simply health through my employer, (I pay for this directly out of my wages) I contacted them recently to change the address on the policy to be told they had received an instruction from my employer to cancel this 17 months previously. The payments have continued to go out of my wages. I delved a bit deeper into this through my employer and the insurance company to find out that they had never received an instruction to cancel from either me or my employer but one of their employees had cancelled it on the day their employment was terminated. To date I have received a check for the payments made over the last 17 months and have raised an official complaint. Am I right in thinking I should get compensation for this as they've been sat on my hard earned money all this time without providing me with a service!
  3. I just wanted to update my situation incase it can help anyone else. I took out a log book loan for £2400 in October 2012 this month (July 2013) my work dropped so I could not afford the repayments. The car also broke down and we had been told it was terminal. I got in touch with mobile money via email on the 16/07/2013 stating that I could not afford the monthly repayments but could pay off the balance of £2178 in October but needed a payment break until then. They refused this. I also told them that the car was due to be scrapped. They quickly responded that he car was legally theirs and they must dispose of it. I asked if I surrendered the vehicle to them would it be in full and final settlement. They initially said yes. However this morning I contacted them again via email ( I refused to speak to them on the phone as I wanted a paper trail of proof regarding what they said) and they stated that in order to surrender the vehicle I must bring it to their office. So at this point I quoted bAck to them the email where they stated that they would collect, and dispose of the vehicle in full and final settlement. At this point they then said that they would collect the car but I needed to come to the office to sign paper work. I refuses. I pointed out to them that email is as legally binding as paper documents so requested that the email me the paper work so I could sign and email back. They reluctantly did so. It took a lot of arguing via email to get to this point but I got there!! We are now free of mobile money!!
  4. I just wanted some advice on where I stand I've had a log book loan for some time and never missed a payment. We are currently in the position where we are struggling to pay. The car itself has died a death and has been scrapped so there is not a car to repossess. I would like to reduce the amount we are paying but mobile money have refused. Am I best just stoping payments or what other options do I have?
  5. ive heard nothing for a few weeks. ive not even offered reduced payments. I only want a means of payment without abuse eg standing order. On the 14th of October it will be 90 days since i last paid so im presuming im now classed as a drop off?
  6. sounds very familiar!! im now 2 months since last payment. ive refused to pay direct to a brighthouse employee in person or on the phone due to the abuse they have so freely dished out. ive asked for bank details so i can set up a direct debit... 8 weeks on still waiting!!
  7. Dont be bullied by this cowboy company they cant take anything without a court order and to state that they can puts them in breech of the trading standards guidelines.
  8. can i suggest you download a copy of the office of fair tradings guidelines on debt collection for consumer credit agreements its an interesting read. Im not sure brighthouse as a company are aware of it though!! they seem to break every one of the guidelines!!
  9. ive been intouch with the ombudsman who have opened a case. we told brighthouse that we will pay when they provide details of how we can without dealing with any of their representatives, theyve yet to supply these. Recording them seems to have worked though as weve not heard from them in nearly a week!!
  10. we've done this 4 times and I have again stated it over the phone to head office. The monkey that came out today stood in the middle of our street shouting that we should expect bailiffs!! all on tape I might add!!
  11. My husband and I have 3 agreements with brighthouse the last one being taken out last summer. We are both students and understandably our finances fluctuate. We always maintained our payments until july this year when we fell 2 weeks behind I phoned the Chester store and asked to speak to the store manager, only to be told that he was on annual leave. I was out onto a chap claiming to be the deputy manager. I explained that I was 2 weeks behind and needed to split the arrears over 2 weeks in order to get back on track. At this point the deputy manager started shouting that I had signed a contract and could not dictate to them how to pay, and that I had to make full payment by noon on the saturday (this conversation happened on the wednesday) or he expected to see me in the branch to explain myself!! I told him that I would not and could not pay in full or attend the branch and that I found his manner both uncalled for and aggressive and requested that he speaks to me in a respectable manner. He then continued to shout that if I did not attend the branch by noon on saturday they would be out to remove my goods by force if necessary, at which point I laughed!! I then explained to him that I was not stupid and know they cant do that without a court order and suggested he go away and read the laws on reposession. I paid the account up to date the following weekand raised a complaint with their customer services regarding the abusive outburst of the deputy manager. I recieved an email off the customer services department stating that they taking this matter very seriously and that the store manager would be in contact to discuss the matter. The following week two women from the Chester branch called at my home, my husband was busy at the time they called so took some time to answer the door, they continually hammered on the door for a number of minutes and when he got to the door he found one of the women standing on top of our bins shouting across the fence to our 5 year old. My husband refused to speak to them as I was not at home and their behaviour was inappropriate. I have heard nothing more regarding my complaint At this present time we are once again behind by 3 weeks due to a death in the family and priorites have had to change. Last week an man from the Chester store came out, I was at work, my husband answered the door, stated that I was not at home. My husband stated that we would be in the position to pay our account on tuesday, the representative began shouting at my husband demanding that I make contact and pay that day, my husband repeated that I would not be making contact, the representative then took a step towards my husband and shouted in his face that I woulld be making contact or he would be back. at which point my husband told him to leave or he would psyically remove him from the property I contacted customer services and stated that if any bright house representatives came to my home without a court oder the police will be called they have been back twice and became verbally abusive these have been video recorded as evidence and we have once again contacted head office to stated that they can only communicate with us in writing. once I stated that we have 2 recordings of their staff being aggressive they agreed that they would not call again. I have asked for an alternative method of payment as I will not deal with their employee either on the phone or in person they have yet to provide these I have contacted the ombudsman who have started looking into the matter I have also sent the store a copy of the office of fair tradings guidelines on debt collection highlighting theclauses they have breached any ideas what else I can do to protect myself from any more harassment??
