  1. Hi, I am very upset with Asda for possible misleading practices, misleading advertising and possible breach of the GDPR, and how they handle customer complaints. Asda is pushing '£20-off on your first online shop if you spend £50 or more' vouchers for first time shoppers. Encouraged by this I opened my online Asda account, shared my personal and private information that I would not have otherwise done, added the voucher onto my account (which was accepted onto my Asda account) and invested several hours into putting my basket together and trying to understand their website. I have a disability so this process takes longer for me. If it wasn't for the voucher, I would not have done those things. When I tried to check-out,the Asda system was not taking off the £20 discount. Because the voucher was already accepted onto my Asda account and on my account it stated I had to "Add" the voucher at check out, I kept on thinking that I was at fault and continued going in circles like a fool on Asda's website to try and figure out how to further add this voucher at checkout. In the end I called customer services, which I think went to India. Another half an hour wasted on the phone. Ultimately I was informed that my post code is not covered. This was not indicated anywhere throughout the online process, even when the voucher got accepted onto the system and was 1ublished on my Asda account. At this stage most people would continue with their purchase as they invested so many hours into getting the basket together, so Asda's misleading advertising would bring in new customers. However, I can't eat food from the store that is tricking people for profit, I find that unpalatable. Because I was clearly mislead, I asked the customer services to log a formal complaint. I was transferred to some sort of department (they spoke good English), they said there is nothing they can do about this and they will not be taking this complaint any further and that this was their formal complaint response. I asked Asda to send me the complaint response in writing they refused. I insisted that I wanted the complaint response in writing because I am registered disabled and I take heavy medication and I might not be able to remember everything correctly the next day, so I don't want to misinterpret Asda's response. They refused and hung up on me. I can't help but feel that there is some discrimination going on here against customers with certain disabilities. I am absolutely furious that this can go on in a country like the UK, and stores like Asda do whatever they want without any accountability.
  2. If I'm not happy with how my complaint to an airport is handled, where else can I take it, please?
  3. I had a blood test. GP receptionist called to tell me that a deficiency was identified and that I need to buy over-counter supplements, as they can't do a prescription. When I asked if I could see my blood results they said I have to pay £5 and they can print it off at the reception. I asked them again if there was another way I could see my blood test results, they confirmed that I have to pay £5 to see them. I wanted to book a GP appointment, they said they can't book a GP appointment for this. This is not a private GP, its an NHS one, and I currently don't have ANY cash to spare, as I'm currently on sickness benefits. Can GP's do this? Is there really no way to see my blood test results for free or get a prescription?
  4. I booked disability assistance in Stansted Airport. The driver and his colleague of the disability vehicle taking disabled passengers from the plane to the airport building acted unprofessional and reckless. When the car started driving (and speeding!), the driver left the door opened right next to where an elderly passenger sat, she was petrified. After some commotion the car stopped and they closed the door. Then the car started speeding again and then suddenly braked throwing me to the floor, I was wearing a spinal brace at the time. They were saying they drove into a chain that was supposed to have a sign on it and it didn’t, trying to justify that it wasn’t the driver’s fault (although, had they not been speeding, I believe they would've seen the chain and even if they had to break I would not have fallen). Despite the incident, I was not allowed a doctor, any medical help, not even a first aid box for a plaster, etc. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told the manager wasn’t there. I wanted to log a complaint, but they wouldn’t allow me in any way to record the incident, for various reasons they made up. Absolutely everything was refused, apart from a glass of water. I was travelling alone, and I remember severely shaking at one point. All of this should be on CCTVs. I had refused to leave the airport until a complaint/incident was logged and a first aid box was given. The guy said there were no first aid boxes around, or to that effect, and there was nowhere to log the incident or complaint. As I refused to leave, he then paraded me around the airport in the wheelchair while he (non-enthusiastically) kept asking random employees for a plaster and how to log this incident, this took a long time and it was obvious he was trying to get me tired of this so I would drop everything and leave. It was a humiliation of the first order and I can’t begin to express how stressful this was. In the end, I wasn’t’ going to leave the airport, so he had no choice but to get me a plaster, which he found on a colleague, and apparently logged a report on their computer in the disability office. Still, I wasn’t allowed a copy of the report or a reference number. I was assured that someone would contact me about this. No one ever contacted me. As the result of this incident and how I was dragged around the airport my prebooked transport was already gone. This was not a difficult hour of the night and the airport would not help me with getting home. I had money for a bus that went to Victoria station in London, so I got that, but I have a huge memory blank of how I got home that night, I think I was so stressed or in shock I have a memory loss. For many months I was so stressed about this incident that I couldn’t even fly to my cousin’s wedding in Europe. I couldn’t face contacting Stansted airport to chase up this incident either as when I would think about it I would go breathless and my heart would go into palpitations and out of rhythm (I have a medical heart condition). Some months later, when I could get myself to do it, I wrote to Stansted airport to find out about that complaint someone was supposed to get back to me about. I learnt I was mislead in the airport and there was no complaint on the system. Then I sent them a fresh complaint by email, they accepted everything that happened, but blamed me for it as apparently it was my fault I didn’t put a seat belt on in the disability vehicle. (Note: as a result of my heart condition I often feel dizzy and faint so I can easily overlook things like seatbelts. I book special assistance in the airport to help me physically with basic things like mobility and seatbelts. I don’t understand why this is my fault). The complaint was also not accepted properly because I emailed them just over 6 months after the incident (-apparently what I logged in Stansted airport was an incident not a complaint – a technicality I didn't know about, and apparently I had 6 months to log a complaint – another technicality no one told me about). I felt like I was a victim of some sort of Stansted airport mafia. I found it impossible to complaint to Stansted airport. What can I do about this please? Is there anywhere else I can take my complaint to? Or is this all at the discretion of the airport? I feel the incidents that happened in Stansted airport, how they were handled, and how passengers like me are presented with barriers to complain about such events makes Stansted airport a very dangerous place for disabled passengers. Any advise or feedback is most welcome.
  5. I am not an expert in this. The label on the back of the TV says AC110-120V -60Hz 95W. Yes, I'll order another converter from somewhere else to test it on just to be sure! Thank you @dx100uk.
  6. Hi everyone, thank you for your replies. @dx100uk and @silverfox1961 - I bought this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0014FLDUG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Cheap and cheerful, I thought it would do the job. It didn't even cross my mind that it would be a dodgy item as I never had any major problems with Amazon, I sort of trusted Amazon lol. "how do you know the tv doesn't work? got another 110v converter?" @dx100uk You have a good point. I am assuming the TV doesn't work because it dimmed down over a spay of around 3-5 secs until the screen became black. Someone in a local shop suggested that the TV is gone, so I have taken their word for it. But you are right, I should really test it with another converter. However, if the TV doesn't work I'll lose even more money, as I'll end up having to keep a converter I don't need.
  7. ORDER PLACED: 26 October 2017 I payed via a debit card that I always use when I buy things on Amazon.
  8. Hi, I bought a voltage converter from Amazon to use for an American TV. While using it the converter started buzzing really loudly, suddenly overheated, and killed my flatscreen Samsung TV. Since I bought the product there are some very bad reviews on the product that include a person whose item exploded as a result of the item being faulty, so its not just me. I've been trying to get in touch with Amazon complaints department as I wanted to log a formal complaint about the converter and the TV, and I did this over a chat with Amazon's complaints department (- apparently). Amazon wouldn't allow me to log a complaint or do anything. Here's a snippet of how the conversation with Amazon Complaints team went: 11:45 PM GMT M: Based on our conversation, I understand I am not allowed to make a formal complaint. I am not allowed to get a link to your compensation policy. And I am not allowed to get compensation for the items damaged in my property by your dangerous faulty product. Based on this conversation I understand amazon takes no responsibility for items that are dangerous to people and private property. And I am also not allowed to contact the Amazon’s legal department. Is that right? 11:48 PM GMT Parthasarathy: I will forward this issue to our internal team and will make sure that you will not face this problem again. 11:50 PM GMT Me: Yes, you can forward this to the internal team. In the mean time I would like Amazon to register a formal complaint on the following grounds: 11:52 PM GMT Me: 1) I am being blocked from logging a formal complaint. 2) I am not allowed to get a link to your compensation policy. 3) I am not allowed to get compensation for the items damaged in my property by your dangerous faulty product. 4) Amazon takes no responsibility for items that are dangerous to people and private property. 5) I am being blocked from contacting the Amazon’s legal department. 11:52 PM GMT Parthasarathy: Okay. I will now forward this issue to concerned team and will assure that this will not happen again in future. 11:53 PM GMT Me: Can you please give a reference number for my complaint. And when should I expect a written response to my complaint please? 11:54 PM GMT Parthasarathy: I'm sorry it's an internal contact and we don't have the option to disclose it's output. 11:56 PM GMT Me: If you register a formal complaint, you have to give the customer a reference number, it's got nothing to do with internal contacts or disclosure. Also, ever formal complaint has to have a written response. Again, it's got nothing to do with internal contacts, disclosure or outputs. Are you saying that you refuse to register a formal complaint? 11:58 PM GMT Parthasarathy: We understand how you feel, we’re very sorry. We’re going to take care of this and you can trust us that it will not happen again in future How can I file a formal complaint with Amazon if Amazon does not want it? What should I do? Thank you.
  9. @BazzaS Thank you for your response "What Group of license are you applying for (1- car, or 2 - what used to be HGV / PCV)." 1-car - for basic household tasks and getting to and from work. "Do you feel able to discuss your condition so you can be pointed to the relevant 'medical standard of fitness to drive' that DVLA should be using to reach their decision?." I had to tick the "fainting" box on the form because I have Postural Tachycardia Syndrome. The condition causes me to faint when I am standing upright for prolonged periods of time. The condition does not affect me when I am seated. Therefore the condition would not affect my driving unless I had to drive while standing up. My GP confirmed the same in his letter.
  10. Hi, I applied for a provisional driving license in October 2016. To this day (Aug 2017) I am still waiting for it. Today DVLA told me it's still in a queue for a doctor to review but would not tell me how many months or years it would take for that review to happen. DVLA refused to tell me the average or approximate time it takes for a medical review to happen. No info whatsoever...just keep waiting... Is this normal? How long does this normally take? Is there a way I could get a provisional license and my lessons as well as the actual driving license abroad and then use that here? - Sorry, this might be a silly question, but I need options. I desperately need a driving license for work/shopping/doc appointments due to bad back, and it seems it's not possible to do it in the UK due to some internal DVLA backlogs. Thank you for any suggestions x
  11. Hi, I'm in a very complex situation and I am loosing my mind and health over this. I was wondering if anyone can assist me, greatly appreciated. Around this time last year I was asked to submit a medical form for WCA, which followed by a face-to-face assessment. My WCA for ESA scored zero points and I submitted my case to Tribunal for review. I believe I meet 4 descriptors for the Support Group. I am currently waiting for a hearing date. The medical WCA assessment outcome in 2016 recommended Work Related Activity for 12 months indicating that I could be ready for work (possibly downgraded to Job Seekers Allowance) after 12 months. As a result of Work Related Activity I ended up in A&E on 4 occasions with a severely excessive heart rate where I was kept in hospital and wired up to a drip. I complaint about this to CHDA who carried out my assessment, they responded stating that I could have gone to the A&E anyway and that it has nothing to do with their assessment, or something to that effect. I have bladder problems and I had to attend a Jobcentre that does not allow toilet use for customers. I have heart problems and I have to attend a service provider in a severely stuffy unaired environment (even the adviser complained about having to use an asthma breathing device there), and that made me very ill. I often feel that my endurance is being tested by physical and psychological torture and I can either make it less painful and quicker for myself by taking own life or prolong the pain but in the end get the same result as the DWP will drive me to an eventual death. While I am still waiting for the Tribunal outcome for ESA medical assessment 2016, I have now been asked to submit a form for medical assessment 2017. I returned the form not to lose my benefits. They sent me a letter for a face-to-face assessment. I believe during this assessment I will be downgraded to the Jobseekers as they will deem me totally fit (as per their recommendation that I will be fit in 12 months). CHDA picked on my doctor letters, ignored the evidence, and handled the formal complaint from me unfairly - that's how I feel. DWP ignored formal complaints from me, made intimidating calls to me, took 4 months to respond to my Mandatory Reconsideration - responded only after I got my MP involved, even then they lied to my MP writing to her that I was happy with the outcome and my MP closed the case. There is absolutely no way in hell this WCA will be a fair one or humane one. It's a conveyor belt to pass you from one torture room to the next, there is nothing more to it. My question to you is, do I have to attend another work capability assessment while I am still waiting for hearing date with the Tribunal? If so, what happens if I need to submit another claim to the tribunal? Will I be able to run two separate claims with the Tribunal on ESA benefits? Thank you in advance for helping me with this madness.
  12. Hi, I hope someone can help me with a unique query. I need to get in touch with a particular surgeon that operated on another patient who was admitted to the same ward as me - this is for a very rare and specialist medical issue that I also developed. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the surgeon's name as this was a few years ago, but i should be able to identify the name of the surgeon from a list of names if I received a list of all surgeons operating at that hospital during the time when I was admitted there. Is this something I could ask using the Freedom Of Information Act, or would the names of surgeons not be provided? Thank you.
  13. I didn't claim the holiday in the ET1, I cannot recall if I stated that at the hearing. But to be honest, I didn't claim the notice pay in the ET1 all together as I was ill-advised about my contract at the time. It was during the hearing that the judge decided to include that if I recall correctly. It's very odd, I think I was so stressed during those three days of the hearing that my mind is blocking out the memories. I literally have blanks and cannot remember what happened for the best part of the hearing. I can only put it down to stress levels lol
  14. Hi, to be honest, I was not pleased with the judgment. I was amazed how much the employers get away with and IMO the judgment was a bit one sided. I have very clear reasons for my opinion, and I aim to write down my thoughts more thoroughly for this forum during the weekend. Hopefully what I'll share will be interesting and/or useful to someone. In the meantime I need to wrap up the ends of this case and take a couple of days to take a breather. I'll re-post my quick question in case it got pushed back a bit: My question is regarding remedies and payments in relation to notice pay. My employer had payed me one week's notice while I was contracted to one month's notice. The judge stated in the judgement that the employer has to pay me one month's net pay minus one week. There is no mention of holiday pay in the judgement. Does this mean I lose my holiday? The respondent is refusing to pay the holiday as it's not in the judgement/remedies, and I fear that the respondent is correct. But then it's not very fair that I have to lose my holiday pay for that month. What's your view on this please? Any guidance or tips please? Thank you in advance. xx
