  1. i does show that i had signed for it yes, but i have no recollection of knowing what i had signed up for. to the point where, when ppi claims were first being investigated, i was convinced i didnt have any on the card because i wanted it. though it turns out i did have it on this one card
  2. hi. I remember the date i took the card, however i cant recall being sold the PPI on the card, which i only recently noticed i had. the question "why did you decide to take PPI" well, in honestly i dont remember deciding to take it at all.
  3. hi. thanks for previous responses. Im now filling in my questionaire for the credit card. As i wasnt even aware i had the repayment cover on the card, so as far as im aware it wouldnt have been properly explained to me at the time. Problem i have is it was almost 8 years ago that i took the credit card out, so specific details about when i initially took the card are fuzzy. Just wondering if anyone could advice as the best thing to put down on the form . Thanks.
  4. bit of an update, i finally got through on the phone (before reading the above posts) and cancelled the repayment cover on the credit card, though im thinking of also including a second letter with the SAR re-iterating this. While on the phone, the woman asked me straight away if i was going to be looking to reclaiming this money, and gave me a phone number that deals directly with PPI from Credit Cards (0845 725 3519) As i've also had two loans from Halifax where i am unsure about PPI, i dont really know whether to persure the credit card directly, or will i be able to make 1 general case for the credit card and two loans once in possession of the SAR?
  5. ok, so to stop myself getting into any more issues, i tried ringing Halifax to get the Repayment cover to stop immediately, the rather rude woman was more interested in telling me i needed to make a payment as my account was incurring charges (for going over the credit limit) asking me if i was in financial trouble, she then told me i was going to get a lot of calls and letters if i didnt make a payment right there and then. then she gave me a number for the repayment cover that doesnt exist, i asked to be put through directly but she said they were closed. Found a number on the Halifax website (says they are open to 10) but didnt have any answer after 10 minutes of constant ringing. the Repayment cover is approx 25 quid this month and part of the issue with me being over the limit, want to get that taken off straight away while im trying to tackle it.
  6. i've now got my template letter that im happy with, had to ring halifax to ask about the addess as i wanted the letter to get to the specific place it needed to. if there is anyone else who has dealt with Halifax in the matter, can you please confirm that HBOS, DSAR POBOX 791 Leeds, LS1 9LR. Also, the lady on the phone stated that the money HAD to be sent by check, not a postal order or other method, not being about able to find my cheque book i was hoping this isnt true, can anyone help? I apologise for all the questions, i admit to being completely clueless on all matters relating to debt and will be relient on the knowledge of the people on here for a while i think Many thanks again. Paul
  7. Hi. Just wondering if the SAR template on the sticky section is still useable (as it was written in 2007) i have a Credit Card with Halifax which to be honest ive only just realised the extent of the PPI im paying i have also held two loans with Halifax previously which are now both closed. So would i be best to write to them asking for an SAR first? or using one of the PPI templates (along with the questionaire) first? Many thanks.
  8. thankyou for the replies. I signed up to Noddle, i have a 5 on a payment for Orange, but its not as yet showing as a default so if i clear this with the tomorrow i should be fine there shouldnt i? I am concerned about Defaulting, but im unlikely to be in a position to buy my own house for another 6 years anyway, Does entering a DMP mean an automatic deafult? will that start now or at the end of paying things off? As well as wanting to sort my life, and debt out, i would like to think that 6 years from now i can be debt free and on the road at least to starting to buy my first home, would a DMP or a DRO be the best route for this? Also, has anyone had any experince with PayPlan? and are do they provide a free service? Many thanks again
  9. Hi. The loan is a three year term im halfway through. The barcelycard ive had about 18 months as well The halifax credit card is about 7 years now
  10. So after a long while of denial, i have finally come to the conclusion that i need help regarding my levels of debt. Its been putting a severe on all aspects of my life including my job and my relationship, ive contacted PayPlan about this and this will ring me back (probably Tuesday) i think. Just wondering if i can get any advice from people on here. my debts (roughly) are £4800 - Barcelys credit card £3000 - halifax credit card £5500 - tesco personal loan £100 - halifax overdraft on current account £100 - lloyds overdraft which is in a dormant account, also occuring charges (£40 last month) £45 - Orange, the original debt was passed to a collection agency, when i phoned up to pay they had passed it back to orange, and i have heard nothing since. (though its still showing on my credit report. the issue i now have, is the minimum payments on the credit cards mean i can no longer live from month to month, and its only going to get worse. The loan, and two credit cards are still with the initial people i took them out with, i havent missed a payment on either of them since ive had the accounts Ive over my credit limit on the one card, and bang on it with the other, paying a total of £240 in minimum payments and seeing the figures not moving. would a DMP help me? is this the best route for me or are there other options? If im going to go down the DMP route should i cancel the minimum payments set up on the account now (as i currently have not enough money to see me through until payday) or leave them going? if it would be possible to get the credit card companies to stop charging interest i might be able to get somewhere, but it feels like im choking with each and every month that passes to the point where i really cant take anymore. Any help, advice or previous experiance anyone can provide would great. thankyou
  11. Apologies for the paragraph, i did space the post out, not sure why its come out like that.
  12. Hi. My girlfriend bought a laptop from Comet yesterday (11/3/2014) She was told it had a 64GB harddrive (was one of those ones where the front screen comes off making it into a tablet) But by the time she got it home and had installed Windows 8 on it there was only 19GB left on the drive. Today (12/03/2014) she took it back (along with the backed up Windows 8 on a stick she was charged £30 for) but has been told they wont do a refund, and only begrudingly will do an excahnge. Just wondering if someone could point out any rights she might have, as she brought the laptop back within 24 hours, and (as far as im concerned) was sold the laptop under mis-information .Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks
  13. i did paragraph my post.... it appears to not have worked, apologies!
  14. Hi guys, bit of background behind my PCN before i ask for help.on 14th of January i got a ticket for parking in the park and ride in Aberdare. Parking here is free providing you have a valid train ticket that covers you for that day. A parking ticket can be issued.... im sure you are all aware how it works.let me first say that, on the date i received the PCN, i did not have a parking ticket on show in my car, although i did have a valid train ticket for that day, let me try to explain why.My train for work leaves at 6:22, with another one at 6:52, (i start at 8 and need either of these to work on time) I had purchased a weekly ticket on the 8th of January, and herein lies the issue. When using the automated machines (they have one in the car park, and one at the station) it is not possible to get a weekly car parking ticket when purchasing a weekly train ticket (though you can get a 1 day parking pass) a weekly parking pass is obtainable through the station, which opens after both trains mentioned above have left, and closes before i get home. My usual M.O is to buy a monthly ticket (which means i turn up for work late, but as its 1 day a month i am able to work around it) thus meaning my car is protected for the whole month. Thanks to Christmas, this wasnt possible for the last few weeks, and my workflow meant i really had to be in. Anyway, i apologise for the longwinded post, what i want to know is, what are my chances of having the fine wavered through appeal given that i can provide evidence of having a train ticket at the time the fine as issued, would it be in my interest to mention the difficulty in accessing a parking ticket? should i ask for an extension to the 14 day period of discount of the fine while my appeal is processed? any thoughts, opinions, or tips on what to say/how to say it in the letter would be fantastic. The 14 day period ends of the 28th of the month so im looking to get it in the post on thursday. Many thanks in advance.
  15. ok cheers, so should i be worried that this guy seems to like taking cases to court? where some of the other PPC's dont seem to bother?
