  1. On we go. Today a letter saying they had received my SAR on the 26th & that they'll send their response(s) within 28 days of the 26/03/19. A reminder they have a website & a privacy statement, and finally a machine printed signature from Leanne Carter, Business Manager, Subject Access Request Team. My, the fast paced world of finance, eh?
  2. If I'm going to blame anyone (other than them), it'll be Marie Kondo. Although I binned a lot of paperwork over a decade ago & am lamenting that somewhat, I have still found one single sheet that may "spark joy". Fingers crossed not in their flinty hearts (presuming they have them). After all, I think it was here I read "Santander - the Spanish word for 'incompetent'". I've completed the SAR for Abbey as that's what following the link brings me to. I trust you. Off to Triton square (is it just me hearing try-it-on, there?) it goes, unless there's a better suggestion & then I think, having bated the Fates on five different counts, I had better not hack off my (cherished) postie or your good selves any further. Still again, I'd love to email them but haven't an email address for them & (again) I get enough anxiety via digital media as it is. This time with GDPR legislation backing the time line, OhGoodHeavens. (Bank charges last time , but it feels so long ago!) Onwards!
  3. I'm not a vexatious litigant, I just finally got around to dredging the paperwork for any evidence of PPI & instead pulled out scraps of my financial history I had forgotten & so had my credit reference. Imagine my pleased surprise to find MBNA are still going & seemingly at the usual stand in Chester Business Park! I remember sending cheques there. (Yes, I am that old.) Now to ping a SAR there, unless anyone has a better address, & await a small rainforest's demise of paperwork. I do wish there was a legal alternative to paperwork but I suspect not yet. Again, no evidence of an email address (I'm not so old I don't appreciate a chance to dodge the cost of a stamp if it'll do!) but some things are simpler served on paper. This time with GDPR legislation backing the time line, OhGoodHeavens. (Bank charges last time , but it feels so long ago!) Onwards!
  4. A long time ago I had an Asda card. I have a single statement, exhumed from the detritus container called the filing cabinet, which not at all reassuringly says GE Consumer Credit Service Ltd - but, thanks to the search function, I gather that my SAR is proper to the Credit Data Management Team at NewDay Ltd in Leeds. Cheers to jay2014! (Yet) Again, I'd love to email them, but (a) haven't a clue as to an email address for them & (b) I currently get enough anxiety via digital media as it is. This time with GDPR legislation backing the time line, OhGoodHeavens. (Bank charges last time , but it feels so long ago!) Onwards!
  5. Andover it is & huge thanks - one less thing to jitter about over the weekend. Suddenly really glad son loaded printer with the nice paper, as opposed to the printer equivalent of Izal Medicated Onwards, happier blinking_idiot
  6. It's not quite Martin Lewis's fault but it is probably about time to get the SAR out & then stand by (hopefully) to do some serious paperwork. Having a card card, I've completed the SAR and am pondering what is the correct address as it isn't a complaint as such (Is it? lovely Freepost option in 2013 but what odds that's still live?) Natalie Page at Churchill Place London 21012 though also possible, & of course the correct as at 2016 at Knutsford. That latter, I think, but I have all weekend to dither. Advice much appreciated! There is Ms.Pages's email address but is it working, & anyway I get enough anxiety via digital media as it is. This time with GDPR legislation backing the time line, OhGoodHeavens. (Bank charges last time , but it feels so long ago!) Onwards!
  7. Another soul reminded by Martin Lewis that it's absolutely time to extract a digit, get the SAR out & then prepare to do some serious paperwork. Them having my bank account, card, & even mortgage (albeit under the C&G flag) I've completed the SAR and am now gnawing a knuckle as to whether it goes to Chatham, Andover <insert obvious joke to taste> last flagged as right as of 2009 or the ico's address for them in London. I'd love to email them, but haven't a clue as to what email address for them is working & anyway I get enough anxiety via digital media as it is. This time with GDPR legislation backing the time line, OhGoodHeavens. (Bank charges last time , but it feels so long ago!) Onwards!
  8. (From a female of this parish) As a side observation, a real DS shave leaves the skin altogether more snugglable against. Completely Unlike the results from an electric razor - I have retreated from embraces when I was getting an unexpected dermal abrasion. Avoid the multi-blades, put the time in with the assorted soaps & other shaving unguents & enjoy the many benefits!
  9. A few months ago we were a four Kindle family. Two got the alas-well-documented-in-hindsight screen problems & then there were two. MiddleSon, in the middle of the first Game Of Thrones book was distraught - and in a benevolent gesture I loaded the series onto My Kindle & lent the caboose to him. I missed my kindle. When he was in school & I was sat waiting for the car to be fixed, I had to arrange temporary reposession. The app on the phone was a huge help but sometimes you need the phone to work as a phone & your eyes appreciate a slightly larger target area.So when I heard Blackwells was selling an ebook reader for under £30, I investigated. A bog standard nook not only was affordable, I could add a microSD card & vastly expand its library. (Well, so I thought. If you can read stuff off the chip, *I* haven't figured how yet.) Also I had to convert my chosen reading from mobi to epub - not that big a deal thanks to Calibre. (Free software, but lawabiding - DRM & it won't play without some fairly nifty footwork.) A couple of months in & I'm very happy with the nook. Barnes & Noble email me each week with nice expensive ideas & I take notes & ask my net-running pals if they can find me anything by X, or title Q in epub. (I calibre stuff in exchange - they love the hunt, I the conversion to readable.) So I now find myself with two libraries, three ebook readers & I wouldn't change it, As It Works For Us. Should YoungestSon want an ebookreader again I'll nudge him towards the nook as he likes the stylus & I like the price. The nook has a touchscreen which strikes me as more fragile, somehow - yet is encased in a nice solid rubber housing so it can cope with being shoved in a pocket. If you want to try an ebook reader, and can't quite face the kindle entry price (plus the risk of same again in 13 months), get a nook at it's discounted (not list!) price & see how you go!If m'father tries to palm his old Kobo off to us though I'll kick - he got the cheap-with-ads model & we see enough advertising without contaminating our reading with it!
  10. For me, it went from printout to Ombudsman to total radio silence for about 3 weeks (they have a caseload) but after an initial written acknowledgement, I chased them by phone (ah that magic reference number!) and was able to find out who was waiting for whom. When Paypal sent me emails I forwarded them along, when their debt goons called me I forwarded that on, *always* labelled with the reference number and thre months later I'm sorted. The Ombudsman won't be rushed - they defend both sides right to time to consider and reply, but when they do get things settled, *if* you're still unhappy you have a very solid audit trail to take to court if necessary. For me it was twelve weeks, not eight, but I had Christmas to slam the anchors on all round. 11. Hi! Let me be very clear - noone is suggesting the Ombudsman is fast. However, the initial form is online (and works *so* much better in Word than Wordpad) and one stamp later gets you a reference number you can then use with email or telephone. All you have to do is dodge the debt collectors while the communciations flow, & I hope you come out OK. ('Debt' coverted to Euro yet?) I did, but I don't know how rare or everyday I am. 12. Hi! IdaInFife was adamant that there ought to be a copper who would cooperate - but I couldn't find one. (Sorry, see my thread for her more coherent words!) However, while they are not faster than a speeding bullet, you can find the ombudsman at www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk. I was in a similar boat, went to the Financial Ombudsman & although it took time (3 months) it was resolved (OK as a goodwill gesture) Where Paypal are concerned, the Ombudsman may be the best bet. Download their .pdf file, post it off & let them work at their pace. It worked for me. It's also got to be safer than pounding mean streets solo?! 13. Hi! I was in a similar boat, went to the Financial Ombudsman & although it took time (3 months), it was resolved (OK as a goodwill gesture). So, whether or not you can find an Internet Fraud police officer (& locally I couldn't), you can find the ombudsman at www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk. Most CAG posters seem to have limited time for these folks - not least since taking the legal route is clear and direct (well, will be again once the test case is settled) but where Paypal are concerned, the Ombudsman may be the best bet. Download their .pdf file, post it off & let them work at their pace. It worked for me. 14. Let the moderators change the title of this thread to Paypal Reversal - Settled! After some time with with Financial Ombudsman, Paypal appear to have settled the situation as a good will gesture. So, whether or not you can find an Internet Fraud police officer, you can find the ombudsman at www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk. (Over three months, and fielding two calls from scary dsebt collection people.) It cost me nothing other than a stamp [majorly cheaper than www.moneyclaim.gov.uk !]. Once they had my signature, we managed the rest by email. So, good luck! And, er, I wouldn't recommend shipping to an unverified address even if you really want the money. One hard won lesson ought to be enough?!
