  1. These transactions are fraudulent it is against contract law to impose conditions after a supposed contract has been entered in to. You had obviously bid on an item and then you were asked to provide copies of your credit card to ensure that only one free gift was sent to anybodies home address, this is where i jumped ship, I refused to give them a copy of my card and advised them that I was not expecting a free gift, said that if I provided them with the details requested it would put them in a position where they could steal my identity so cancelled my order immediately. They acknowledged the cancellation but dated it three months in the future and then took 2 x £59.99 from my bank, I contacted my bank and told them that this money was taken without my authority, explained the circumstances and they refunded the monies immediately. One month later another £59.99 came out of my account and once again the bank refunded it. I have heard nothing from Ziinga during this time and would not enter into correspondence with them anyway. I have warned them that I would contact the police if they tried to take money from my account again and that the people involved would possibly face a jail term for fraud. I can only suggest that you contact your bank again and tell them that these transactions were without your authority and that you consider them to be fraudulent transactions, the bank is OBLIGED to refund your money do NOT take no for an answer. Good Luck
  2. The question is did you supply copies of your card as they requested - they asked me to do that and I refused and cancelled my order the same day. They sent a confirmation email saying they agreed with my cancellation but for a period three months hence. I replied that since I had not completed the contract by failing to provide details that they had requested that the contract under UK Contract Law was not enforceable. They took £59.99 out of my bank three times and each time I contacted the bank and told them that they did not have my authority to take funds and the bank (so far) has refunded them, the last transaction attempt was three months ago. Good Luck.
  3. Following on rom much excellent advice from CAG I issued proceedings against the Abbey in the sum of £10,497 including costs. As usual they have completely ignored my requests stating that it was within the terms etc., Indeed they have even in writing confirmed that they would not investigate my complaint "because they did it last year" Most recently however some nasty surprises they took £700 from my wife's account without any warning in partial settlement of the joint account overdraft, all of which had been acumnulated by charges (the claim is for charges on a joint account) so I guess I should not have been surprised. I have however resoponded that the funds in my wife's ccount were company funds transferred from an Abbey business account and they had been earmarked to pay car insurance that week which was impossible so I lost three days pay ( I have issued an invoice in my company name) whether I stand any chance of getting that paid remains to be seen, any comments would be welcome.
  4. I too have been [edited] by Abbey, over £8,500 over the last 4 years just out of interest what proportion of the complaints are against Abbey, I knew someone that used to work there they had instructions to seek out maximum possoble charges to inflate their profits, which incidentally were bolstered by the increase in charges year on year by some £300 million between 2004 and 2005 they are obviously doing a good job at [edited] the average person. I will be taking action against them having just had my request for refund rejected, they said in the letter that they would judge each and every summons against them on its merit, hmmmmm naybe if it doesn't pay them to fight it, even after a refund I have every intention of reporting them to the OFT and banking ombudsman (if they are not already the same people). Go for it, collective effort will get these bast**ds eventually Post edited. Please do not use any terminology that could be considered libelous.
  5. Thanks ncf355 for advice, I had not considered that possible but it would get the b***gers up and running if they received three claims over a three day period. I'll keep you all informed of the outcome. Cheers dhp240552:)
  6. Hi all, I am new to the site but have followed the advice so far in the hope of claiming my bank charges back, over the last 4 years my bank (Abbey National) have [edit] 8,950 pounds yes eight thousand nine hundred and fifty pounds. Yesterday I received the response to my claim, the usual "we have investigated this matter on several occasions for you and all of the charges are within the Bank's Terms and Conditions" - well my next step instead of responding to that is to find a solicitor prepared to repsresent me and issue proceedings, at the same time informing the OFT, and possibly GMTV. They have already threatened to close the account - fine suits me because I am intending to dump them anyway. Wish me luck [MODERATED: Please do not post libelous comments on this site] dhp240552
