  1. Hi, my credit is not so good and most of my old debts have now tailed off the 6 year mark but I have 3 on my credit report causing me issues, one where there is a claim made in court, the other no action but I anticipate there soon will be and I have an outstanding CCJ which I am going to attempt to clear. I know the debt has been assigned to Lowell and the statement I have received shows a number of charges and interest which if removed would then not to amount to as much as is claimed. I am in a real confused state and just need to know how to write to them requesting removal of the charges and then I could agree an amount to pay off. I am also trying to find the snowball calculator which should help me get everything in one place and a plan of action. Hope this helps you answer my questions.
  2. Has anyone dealt with debt collectors and had success in reducing the interest / charges removed to pay for the actual debt. If you have I could really do with some help as have some bad old debts that just keep resurfacing and now need to face up to them and arrange to settle to become debt free. Any help would be really appreciated.
  3. I am at the final stage of a claim and I think MBNA have been harsh and trying to get out of paying the true value of charges. I have written letters and full break down but now need to know if someone can help me with the next step. I can go to the FOS or a law firm but not sure which is best. Please can I get some advice. I have paid back to MBNA the sum of over £13,500 and there was a PPI on there which I was not aware of. The card has been suspended for the last 4 years, but all I am paying is interest upon interest upon interest. Not sure how to get out of this loophool. Is there anyone out there who can help me with the next step?:sad
  4. hi there thank you so much for the tip, it helps a lot. I will get started. Kind regards
  5. Hi Yes I undertstand and I am new to the forum. I just feel confused as to how to go about things but will try and go through the statement line by line. It is very difficult to understand what a certain amount of interest applies to and also the finance charges as I have not had the use of my card since last year but there are always double entry finance charges after I have paid an instalment. Thanks for giving me a direction though.
  6. I have received a letter from Rachel Nixon just saying they are looking into my claim and will report back to me in 28 days. No contact numbers have yet been given to me. I am stuck as to what to do next as I was ready to produce the third letter on the money saving expert website "asking for your money back". If you can enlighten me on how you have got on that would be really useful. Thanks.
  7. Wow so much information to look at. I have a full breakdown and will need to look at each entry level. If you can recommend someone or even yourself I can get some assistance to do this with then I would be grateful. Thank you.
  8. Hi Thank you for explaining the difference. However, the PPI taken was just small amounts in 2004 and 2005 and then after that I have been hit with so many charges and in most cases double entries taken on the same date. I am at present just about to send a letter to ask for the charges back and just needed to know whether I can claim back interest as there are two headings on the entries one for posted retail interest and the other for other interest. As well as finance charges I have overlimit fee on account alance and over limit fee on balance charges. I am very grateful for your help with this. Many thanks
  9. I need some help in understanding which route to take - PPI or Credit Card Charges. I requested data from MBNA by following the template letters on money saving expert site on making a claim for charges. When I received the documentation I noticed that there was PPC on the credit agreement and some payments made out for Card Protection and Posted Credit Insurance fees so that has left me a little baffled on which route to take. Also, an someone help me understand what is meant by charges? does this include interest payments also? Thank you.
