  1. My wife and I have booked a cruise through Tui and my wife made the booking and today I phone the Tui shop and asked about a cabin upgrade and they had to have permission from my wife to speak to me about upgrading and after she gave permission I was told that it had to be done in person so I said I would pop in later to sort out the upgrade and choose the cabin ( which is another fee ) When I arrived at the Tui shop I was told that I could not do the upgrade as my wife was not with me I said that you spoke to my wife this morning and gave permission at no time did you say that she had to come with me ,cant you phone her at home and she can give permission .No was the reply Data Protection .my name is on the booking and I paid for the cruise in full check the payment ,but they would not deal with me . Surely if they spoke to my wife this morning and knew I was coming to pay for the upgrade why is this Data protection stopping me from doing something so simple no wonder firms are losing custom
  2. Hi Could somebody in the know tell me when Spectrum Finance stopped trading and all accounts where transferred to Money Village in leeds which now seem to have move back to keighley where Spectrum Finance where based are one of the same. Thank you for any help .
  3. Hi In reply I was a beneficiary along with the grandchildren and my sister where . One of my nieces asked me for advise as my mother had given my sister a sum of money to pay off debits and pay her ex husband his share of the property and it was with in 7 years of her death as I was working abroad my sister was executor now I am retired living back in the UK I have been asked this question . I do believe that all gifts have to be declared given within 7 years and this was not .
  4. Hi Thanks for your reply I am sure that she did not contactHMRC and it went to probate and she was the only executor. I have no idea who received the payment but it was part of the divorce settlement as she kept the property and he was paid off as it was in joint names
  5. Hi just after some advice in 2017 my mother died and my sister was the executor it has just come to light that she withheld information from the beneficiaries that within 7 years before my mother died she had paid off my sisters ex husband in a divorce so she could keep the property. I understand that this should have been declared in the accounts what rights do the beneficiaries have now to reclaim this payment . this only came to light through the death of another family member who knew what had happened , do we have any rights to challenge this after all this time
  6. I applied for Pension credit 4 months ago when I applied I was told it would be backdated to the date of my claim my wife was in receipt of income support and I was told to stop this a week before Pension credit was paid but there was no backdated pension credit even though the income support was declared to them the pension credit back payment I was told was the difference between the two payments would be included in the payment . Further more when I first spoke to pension Credit I was told what the amount would be less the weeks income support was in payment then after income support was stopped the full amount would be paid . The truth was that the amount I was due as a couple was about half of what I was told and it would be not backdated and I only found this out when a payment went in my bank although I have phoned them all I am told is wait for the letter which sets everything out so far no letter how can DWP get it so wrong by telling you one thing then saying something else later . How to I find out what is fact or fiction with out any paperwork which is always in the post.
  7. My Mother has been diagnosed a few years ago with dementia and now she has to transfer from DLA to PIP now this is where it gets messy as last year I had a home visit from DWP to sort out her benefits and it was agreed that if she signed a letter so I could act on her behalf and after that no problems until the PIP letter came when I phoned up I was told that I had to have a home visit and sign forms so that all letters came in my name and any payment had to be paid into my bank which was done or we would not be able to claim for PIP . My Mother whom was dealing fairly well with her dementia ended up feeling totally worthless ,so then the form was sent and duly returned with all copies of hospital letters ,memory clinic letters along with other letters relating to her other illnesses which all stated in detail her medical history and how it affects her even a lay person could see what my mother was being treated for . Then today a letter arrived for a face to face medical even though I asked for a home visit if that was to be the case ,so I phone ATOS and during the conversation I was convinced that nobody had even looked at her claim or even read the medical letters and then I was asked would she become better with treatment and how long would her illness last with treatment to which I responded the only cure for Dementia is when you die . They are now looking again at the claim and have cancelled the face to face medical but I have come to conclusion that they do not read the claims and just looking to stop anybody from claiming
  8. Could somebody help with this My daughter wants to buy her council house and has lived in it for about 9 years so does qualify for the right to buy discount but she was told she could not have the new help to buy ISA as well as that would mean two discounts is this correct as I was under the impression that you could have a help to buy ISA as well as the council right to buy discount thanks for any help
  9. Hi The first debt management firm was called Spectrum then Money Village and the PPI firm was Curly Wig if that is of any help trouble is I am about go back in hospital for further spine surgery which means I am unable to undertake much for months at a time . due to my illness and now my wife's early stages of Alzheimer's diagnosis we have now no chance of repayment of these debts of which we both fully and totally accept our liabilities for our health issues are stopping use from being able to return to work to repay them and being stupid enough to think that we where covered by PPI and the debt management firm where acting our best interests to help repay the debt due the situation we found ourselves in.
  10. This is asking for advice ten years ago I was taken very ill and had to give up working have undergone ten years of major surgery and hospital treatment my wife working part time to look after me . rightly or wrongly and I know in hindsight wrongly before I was admitted to hospital I was fully aware I would be unable to keep up with my outstanding debt repayments . contacted a debt management company to handle my debts as I was fully aware that within weeks I would not be in any position to deal with it and thinking that being honest and facing up to this that I would not be able to deal with this along with trying to take pressure from my wife we both signed agreement for the debt management company to act on our behalf and at no time without hiding from any liability. Just in the last few months I have been well enough to relook at what we had done and now realise what a huge mistake I made as after all these years after paying thousands of pounds I have only reduced the by hundreds yet I was paying for PPi and other payment protection schemes on all the accounts yet a few years the same management firm offered a PPI repayment plan although they stated that some of the debt was covered and they reclaimed refund all that happened was it reduced the debt and I ended up with another debt for their fees which was added on to the monthly repayment plan and according to them now it will take another 89 years to repay what we owe by which we shall both be dead Yet when looking through old paper work in the last few weeks due to my health improving I found a credit statement from one of my debt companies stating that they had accepted the monthly repayment of one pound per month but where changing a payment options plan of sixteen pounds and this was three years after I first entered in to this debt management plan. I have within the last few days asked the debt management firm if they had details of copies my original credit agreements and as they acted on our behalf could they forward them to me or ask for them which I was informed they did not and would not be able to obtain them surely how can they undertake a debt management plan without the agreements . I am fully aware now that I have been been ripped off by the debt management firm and by the credit firms and now believe honesty does not pay by admitting my indebtedness trusting somebody to deal with it has now cost my wife's health and I will never recover my my illness . I feel there must be a solution but it seems far to late to do anything now as I accepted the debts by handing every over to a debt management firm as I was not in position to deal with it due my health so any help would be very gratefully
  11. Hello I need some advice I have just left BT for Sky I have been with BT for years both phone, broadband and last year took BT sports but found there charges kept going up. So this June 29 I joined Sky having there TV services already but I took out BT sports prior to 11 July last year which is the first record I can find on my bill and I know they did not start broadcasting till 02 August but BT are charging me for having this up to 08 August 2014 stating that although it was free whilst I had broadband so they have to charge now and that the contract was for one year . But I had agreed a contract prior to 11July 2013. But what would have happen if I had canceled my BT Sports contract after 11 July and before 2 August they would have charged a years fees . So my question is when does a contract start from the day you ordered or when they started to transmit also since I have left BT on 29 June they have turned off BT sport so I am unable to view it anyway bur I am still paying for this service to BT until 08 August somehow I feel I am being conned out of money as they refuse to respond to any of my emails
  12. I am not sur if this is the right place to post this but today I received a default notice and a administration charge of £12 fdrom the AA home contents insurance department ,Last year I took out a policy with them and paid by direct debit this finished on 31 July 2013 the lasst payment being made on the 01 July .after looking around I chose to stay with the AA for another year and phoned them to haggle down the price and agreed a price and the new direct debit payment s start on the 01 October so how can I have defaulted when there are no payments due ,When I spoke to them they stated that my bank had cancelled my DD and the charge and default stood and the only way I could stop the charge and default notice was to reinstall the DD and if I left the full costs would be due .I went to my bank this morning and they looked at the my account and told me as well as showing me that the AA had stopped the DD as it states Finished and only they could do this and to recontact the AA . Now as far as I was concerned all was well till I had that letter from the AA this morning and nothing was wrong and feel now why should I stay with such a blackmailing company if I want the default notice removed and the charge dropped, and I still can not belive how a person can default when there has been No missed payment with the first is not even due to October and no payment every missed or late and if something was wrong a simple letter or phone call would have done but this.. |I would like to give my custom to another company but do not want this default notice and charges to be made and feel forced to stay with them after this trouble is I was going to stay with them or why would I have renewed with them and ageed the new monthly fee which was more than last years anyway. advice how to deal with this would be most grateful as I feel stuff them .
  13. Sorry to say this but I get taxed on my Pension so it is coming out of my pocket and they have all the information there is nothing else I can give them
  14. Every year I receive a letter from the Job center plus asking for any details with regard to my Occupational Pensions as some of my benefit entailment is means tested and every year as per the letter give them wriiten permission all the details to contact my pension provider which in this case is a Local Government Pension as at the time of the letter I have no knowledge of the annual increase but I do reply with written permission for them to contact my pension provider along with all the information they would need . Last year I received at least 5 letters asking for the same information and this year the same number of requests and I also follow the letter up with a phone to the office dealing with this matter, but I have been called for a interview with the compliance officer at my local Job center as I was unable to attend the appointment on that day given so I contact the compliance person and discovered that they still wanted details of my pension for this year, I explained that they had all the details and if they wanted to they also had the permission to contact my pension provider, to which I was told that it was my job to give them the details, and it was not their job to contact them so why put on all the their letters a space for my permission to contact the pension provider .Apart from P60 and the copy of my annual pay advice and my written permission for contact the pension department what else can I do ,as the increase in my pension this year is the grand sum of £2.00 per month and I wonder how much all this work has cost them or us let alone the stress it has caused me, I am being to think have no ideal what they are doing is there anybody whom I can complain to stop this what is becoming months every year of stress.
