  1. Update on this thread. The company have offered me a refund upon return of item, as a good will gesture. Thank you so much for all your good advise.
  2. Thank you I have advised them of what happened to me, but they have not as yet replied. I will try again, I do understand about the hygiene thing, Thank you unclebulgaria67 for taking the time to reply, it's much appreciated.
  3. Thank you so much for replying, https://slissie.co.uk/ Taken from their FAQ Are there any side effect from using the slissie. You may feel thirsty, have a dry throat or a sore throat if you inhale it rather than suck the flavours. To stop this feeling, try to suck the flavours like a straw rather than inhale and drink more water to alleviate the symptoms. If using frequently, on the rare occasion you may experience headaches. They will get better with consistent use, but if they are severe, stop using Slissie immediately. They are a UK company.
  4. I purchased an appetite suppressant machine, which works in a similar way to a vapour cig machine. I tried it 3 times, however the first two times I don't think I was using it correctly as it takes some getting used to, the third time I got a blast of the chocolate flavour and thought all was well, until about 20 mins later when I had an allergic reaction, elevated heart rate and dizziness. I contacted the company straight away via email to their customer service helpline, and also via social media, there is no phone number, I have not had a reply. On the returns information on their website, it says you can return, unused unopened items, I have to pay return postage and there is a £5 handling fee to be deducted from refund. My question is because I used it three times, albeit only once successfully, have I any recourse or shall I just give up now and bin it. Thank you in advance.
  5. I feel the same way, my mum was a laboratory technician and used asbestos mats to dry the beakers on, her death certificate says Mesothelioma, due to contact with asbestos, if I'm honest I just want to put it all behind me, this is the wrost of all cancers, and very distressing to see your loved one go through, I feel for you Mrs Hobbit, thank you for all your help,
  6. Just wanted to say Thank you to everyone who answered my call. I have decided to not pursue this any further as it just stirs up memories that are not the most pleasant. I will just leave it and try to come to terms with losing mum. Once again my most grateful thanks to you all.
  7. I have heard this before. I have spoken to solicitors and been told that because no one else is taking action against her former employers, they won't take on the case. Worth a try I suppose.
  8. Yes that's what I was told, it was her nurses who insisted I claimed.
  9. I have already tried the to claim and I do not qualify.
  10. Thank you so much Bankfodder for this advice, I will contact Thompson's first thing in the morning.
  11. My mum died recently from mesothelioma, asbestos cancer. I was prompted by the lung nurses at her hospital to put in a claim for compensation, I researched it and the internet is full of it. Can anyone please tell me how I find a solicitor that won't rip us off, the few I have tried are asking for money up front. I filled in the government form but it was rejected, I really do not understand all the legal jargon, and would welcome any help at all. Many thanks in advance.
  12. Thank you for your prompt reply BankFodder. He has returned my jewellery but the rings that I gave him to remodel are in pieces and are basically scrap gold. The two rings were an 18ct yellow gold diamond band ring, and a 14ct yellow gold band ring with two white sapphires. I would estimate the two rings to be in the region of £750 in total, I now have a plastic bag with pieces of gold which if I weighed them in would probably fetch £30 if I am very lucky a small diamond and a small piece of gold containing two white sapphires. I have enquired if anyone else would undertake this work and have been met with a definite no, because no other jeweller wants to take on a job someone else started. Any advice what to do next would be very grateful appreciated.
