  1. Good morning i have a membership with @davidlloydepsom @DavidLloydUK and cancelled with correct notice. Reason, the spa area is being refurbished and has been since August/September last year and was due to be completed by Christmas. It’s now not supposed to finish until March yet no fee reduction, but an increase. is this legal? I only used it for pool and steam/jacuzzi/sauna and these areas have been closed for months (pool open only). Any advice would be great, thank you. gillian
  2. I have done that already and agree there is probably something in the t&c's. Thanks for responding and helping.
  3. I have a trail of messages on Facebook, which is how she liked us to book. She clearly asks me to cancel with booking.com and book direct, which I did.
  4. Thank you Andy. Which forum has it been moved to?
  5. Hello I wonder if anyone can help me please. In brief I booked a b&b via booking.com and the b&b owner contacted me as we had been there before and said it was best to book direct and could I cancel with booking.com, so I did. I went back to check we could have two rooms and was told fine, so I checked flights and once I saw a suitable one went back again to check all ok before I confirmed. All four of us booked flights and as the weekend is nearing I contacted the b&b to check all is fine as they are a bit disorganised. I didn't get a reply so chased again, nothing, so my partner called them. She said she didn't have any space that weekend but would see if any of her regulars were leaving on the Friday and come back to us. She didn't, so I chased again and she said there were no spaces and 'she didn't ask me to book the flights' I was a bit shocked as we have stayed before and she also said that we didn't pay a deposit. I have never paid a deposit there and have messages confirming she didn't need a deposit. Is it worth me claiming as we cannot get accommodation on the weekend we need it as it is a busy one in Northern Ireland so we are losing our flight costs. Any help would be great, thank you.
  6. I ordered some perfume in the sale from feelunique.com. The courier delivered it and he said 'this box feels empty' so I laughed and took it from him. He was right, empty box. I contacted feelunique and they said they didn't know what had happened a nd the perfume was out of stock but I could order the smaller bottle, but it was more expensive. I want to know if they have to honour the price I paid as it has now gone up to full price? They have said I can have a £10 voucher but that would still leave me £22 out of pocket. Thank you as it is the principle that has annoyed me, £64 full price when it was £32. Thanks everyone
  7. UPDATE I have now got two companies coming for the floor quote, having been offered £20 a sq metre from Aviva/Asprea for a floor 2.25 sq m, totalling £45 and I paid £370 in November 2002. Asprea have a copy of this too. Amtico for £20 a sq metre? I think not! My flooring online is £70 per sq m and that is just the materials, the glue kit is around £50 and then it needs a ply base, toilet and basin removed and replaced and fitting. I am also getting two additional quotes for the repair to my ceiling, and plaster and redecorate the kitchen diner. £268 for this complete job is laughable when I have checked on buildingsherrif and they quote more than double this for the repair and plastering alone. The £268 includes materials and my room is pretty large so paint alone would be at least £50! I wonder what sort of contractors they use? I appreciate any further help you can offer me. With thanks gedgar
  8. Thank you Martin. I have already written to Aviva lodging a complaint but can send the details to you also.
  9. I didn't but I called them before commencing the work and confirmed it was ok to go ahead. I assume their calls are recorded or am I being hopefully. I have written a complaint to Aviva because they told me it was covered and I found it within my policy documents.
  10. Hello everyone I will try and be brief. I had a water leak through my kitchen ceiling, called Aviva who said it was covered under the 'tracing' section of my policy and I am covered for anything that is involved to get to the leak, but not fix the leak itself. All seemed easy, called a plumber who took time to trace it, by lifting my Amtico floor in the bathroom and also the bedroom floor as it was right against a floor beam so couldn't bet got at via the kitchen ceiling. The ceiling was originally cut to try that way and this was all approved with Aviva. Anyway, I have had the quotes in and been told they are too high. My bathroom floor, in 2002 was £370 and the quote now is £485,. I have been offered £140! To repair the kitchen ceiling, by cutting out one metre, skimming the whole ceiling, painting and painting the walls of an L shaped room, roughly 20ft long, each side of the L, removing two radiators and relevant electrics and replacing, I have been offered £268.50 and that includes materials. The flooring I have is Amtico in the bathroom and is £70 per square metre and they said it would be £20 per square metre. The glue pack alone for this is £50 and my floor was immaculate before it had to be taken up to get to the leak. I am one of those who prefers to pay a bit more so things last. Does anyone know where I stand with this as I have now been waiting two months and it is just one query after another and I know, living in Surrey, nobody could paint a room, repair and plaster a ceiling for this amount. Thank you all for any advice from a very stressed person. Gillian:mad2:
  11. Hello, this is my first post so any help would be great. I cancelled my David Lloyd membership last week, in writing, and received confirmation of the cancellation with a date of 28 February 2013. They have now written today saying they made a mistake and it should have read 31 March 2013. Does anyone know where I stand on this? I see lots of queries on gym membership but nothing specifically like mine. Would appreciate help please! many thanks in advance Gillian
