  1. Thank you Bazza. The bank says it should be resolved by 22/11.
  2. I checked the CC yesterday and found two transactions: One from ONLINENTRLSHOP.COM for £44.80 and one from CSBDYCLIENTS for £49.95. I had no idea who or what they were and googling found nothing. It turned out that my wife had followed an ad on FB and signed up for what she thought was a free trial. It turns out that the trial is not free at all and cancelling is next to impossible. The two websites do not have an address and the freephone number gets a recorded announcement. Emails are returned. Trimbiofit CleanseDTX I have spoken to the fraud department at Lloyds (the card issuer) and they have (hopefully) stopped any further transactions. They also said that they will pursue them for a refund. Is there anything else that I can or should do?
  3. I had assumed that she might qualify for PIP, but we were sent the forms and duly completed them. Should we apply for PIP as well?
  4. We understand all that. What puzzles us is the complete lack of any explanation.
  5. Your'e confused? So were the people we tried to get advice from on the phone numbers provided. In the end, acting on advice, we took it to our local jOb centre, by appointment, and a helpful lady, also puzzled, suggested that we complete it there and then, with her help, and send it off. All this happened on August 15. I did not fill in the intrusive part about my finances as there is no intention to claim any income based allowance. All we want is some help with the extra costs related to someone who uses a wheelchair these days to get around. So to recap: There was a form in early August (Maybe the 3rd) which asked all the usual stuff about how far can she walk and can she hold a carton of milk. Then the ESA which is more to do with personal finances, then this award of £218.16 (fortnightly I think) starting on August 17th. Any suggestion as to the best number to call?
  6. Three years ago my wife’s DLA benefit was stopped. We applied for it again and even went for an interview but there was no response. At that time we decided that her disability was not serious enough to pursue the claim, and since the money was not vital, we let it lie. In April this year we received a form to complete with all the details needed to reinstate the claim. We hadn’t applied for it but since her condition has deteriorated, we went ahead with it. We then heard nothing more until early August, when they sent us an ESA1 application form with instructions to complete it within 30 days. This we did and have heard nothing since. On August 17th £218.16 was paid into our joint account, labelled (NI No) EESA. Then the same amount has been paid in on 31st. We have not had any communication at all from DWP to explain how they arrived at this figure and indeed, that she has been granted the payment. We would not be granted income based allowances as my pension is too high. Can anyone tell me what this payment might be, and what I should do, if anything? I am putting the money aside for now in any case and my inclination is to wait and see.
  7. There is another way to look at this. Almost everyone complains that there are many people claiming benefit who are actually fit for work and we have all seen the publicity surrounding some extreme cases. In the program the company was accused of 'cherry picking' the easy cases and getting them work while 'parking' the harder cases. If the objective is really to reduce the total number of people claiming these benefits then it could be said that it is actually working. I understand that there have been many cases where people who were told to attend an interview simply dropped off the benefit altogether, presumably because they expected to lose it anyway. There is no excuse whatsoever for the rudeness and insulting behaviour referred to but overall the scheme does seem to be succeeding.
  8. The basic charge for cars under 1800cc the RAC charge £135 and £149 for members and non members respectively. Over that they charge £148 and £163. Imports, 4x4s, convertibles, write-offs, vehicles over 10 years old, vehicles with more than 5 seats, prestige vehicles or vehicles that have completed more than 120,000 miles can only have the Essentials Plus Inspection. http://www.rac.co.uk/buying-a-car/vehicle-inspections/vehicle-inspections-for-private-buyers/
  9. The bad news is that Pompey is considered a fairly high risk area by the insurance companies, so you may have to pay an extra premium. They will probably charge you for the change of details too. The answer may depend on how long the policy has to run - if it is only 2 or 3 months then I would let sleeping dogs lie and make the change at renewal.
  10. I suggest you get in touch with your local councillor
  11. As I found out while renewing my cover recently, legal expenses cover isn't even standard with comprehensive policies now. It added nearly £30 to the premium. As a matter of interest I found that TPF&T cover was more expensive than fully comp. I gather that that is normally the case.
  12. If I damage someone else's propert accidentaly then they could reasonably make a claim on me for the cost of the repair. My house contents insurance covers me for personal liability (with an excess) and I would pass the claim on to them to deal with. If your friend has PL insurance that may be a solution.
  13. Authorised treatment facilities The ATF will give you a Certificate of Destruction (CoD) straight away if they agree to take your vehicle. They’ll also tell DVLA that you’re no longer responsible for the vehicle. Keep the certificate as proof that the vehicle has been destroyed and you’re no longer responsible for it.
  14. Update: My daughter (Avondex) sent off the out of time forms she downloaded from http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/H...er/GetForms.do and has now been told she just has to pay the original fine to Portsmouth City Council within 28 days... RESULT:) Many thanks for the help on here
